I agree about the probability increasing everyday for this, People seem to have a hard time understanding conditions get more ripe daily, this won't be a "flip the switch" event, thought the trigger event will be,the conditions will slowly cause more and more unusually events, EQ's, weird green/purple lightening, Northern lights in more and more places, unusual high tides. Hey SS, tell the OP/nasa guy thanks from all of us. And thanks to you for updating us, this, with other info in the past year, has so changed my plans and goals for this year. By the way, the blog is looking great.

Ok, I know nothing, but been looking at the pretty colors for 'bout a year now.

When we're getting hit, the 'shield' turns red/white. Also, the 'iso-bars'??? (like on a weather map) below the 'sand-flea' are thight, concentric black circles pushing against tight, concentric white circles. (Boy do I sound stupid!!)

Look at this image, something's WRONG!!

Re: 'Bad' Eruption on the Sun Today...Boeing OP...
who's to say this Boeing guy wasn't another hoaxer/BSer/shill that seem to show up here at GLP?
and Sickscent is not just his alias?

i am not saying i am right but what if?

it flows deep here sometimes.

and real info is hard to discern sometimes...

IMO, this is being a bit too paranoid. The amount of time/effort that has gone into sickscent's work, and the amount of knowledge represented, even quoted from mainstream sources such as NASA, is too much for a GLP hoax. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut, and everything that SS has put together has really resonated with my family and me. I guess you just have to judge for yourself, but I think SS has proved his good intentions over and over again.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1003641

"Real info" is recognized by your gut babe. Go to sickscents blog and read the information he presents - which is compelling to say the very least. My opion is that sickscent is geniune in he his research and intent, and is presenting research that may help many to "connect the dots" so to speak.

Significant even on the Sun? I don't see it really, but what I do see is the right combination of magnetic storm beating our shields timed with a CME....perhaps that's what this is about?

GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY: A solar wind stream is buffeting Earth's magnetic field and causing geomagnetic activity around the poles. Zoltan Kenwell sends this picture taken June 16th from a lake shore 150 miles north of Edmonton, Alberta:

"The display was brief--only about 3 minutes from beginning to end--but beautiful," says Kenwell. "I was not disappointed!"

NOAA forecasters estimate a 60% chance of more geomagnetic activity tonight as the solar wind continues to blow. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.

Re: 'Bad' Eruption on the Sun Today...Boeing OP...
dear 'sickscent'

apologies for arriving late in the thread...I have been busy. The Coronal Mass Ejection is of concern to higher altitude electronics but does not appear to be 'grid significant' given the mass of the explosion and the density of the Magnetic shield. However takeing into account the terrestrial impact from the wavelength distortions over say...tectonic plates? Simply insufficent data is available to make a predictive analysis.

As to the Idea of the Main stream Media picking up the story in houston.... I live in Houston and wish I had seen it. I believe much more will come out about Solar prominences and CME's Magnetic filaments etc.. As we enter into the appointed time of these occurences. It simply in my opinion is little more than a control effort so as warn and pacify for the duration until they cannot.

As to the IP address being blocked ....well its asanine.

Warmest Regards

Re: 'Bad' Eruption on the Sun Today...Boeing OP...
Ok listen up Sun watchers.

There are many websites to go and study the Sun but look at this website first. [link to www.n3kl.org]

In the upper left hand corner where it says;

"Solar X-rays: NORMAL"
"Geomagnetic Field: UNSETTLED"

We need to keep an eye on this.

We rarely get a X-ray storm at the same time while we get a geomagnetic storm.

The Magnetosphere seen at this site: [link to www2.nict.go.jp]
...protects us against the X-rays and other solar storms but over the last year or two its be being blasted. Sometimes from spots on the Sun, sometimes from 'something else'. When those shields are being hit there is up to a 35% reduction in protection against solar storms.

To some things up, we done want to see this:

"Solar X-rays: STORM"
"Geomagnetic Field: STORM"

If we do, we could be exposed to radiation pulses. We could loose grid, airplanes, Satellites, GPS, anything with an IC chip is in danger of frying...including all cars made after 1975.

The timing needs to be just right, like now, our shields are being hit while the effects of a CME is inbound, but the reduction seems mild and the CME seems mild so I wouldn't be too concerned about this one.

What has me concerned is the solar filaments, bashing of the magnetic shields, and missing sunspots which is also rare...or never really happened before. This all sets the stage for a daily 'wtf' is going on with the Sun? It also has airlines nervous because they could fall out of the sky if the timing is right.

Other sites to study and get to know.

Boeing OP contacted me about the eruption today on the sun a few minutes ago. It was a 'bad' eruption. Nobody is in panic mode, but they are 'putting some of the birds on auto'.

Can anyone explain why this eruption is different from (worse than) any other CMEs? Why is it a "bad" one? Is it size or direction or what?

Hi SS!
I've been checking your posts out between life....so I hope I haven't missed much of your stuff; that being said, at the risk of asking a redundant question, do you think that a severe magnetic storm during ancient times is what caused humanity as a whole to lose its memory? I mean, how can the ancients have so much cosmic knowledge, once upon a time, and it totally not be taught or passed on anymore?

It was a regular flare, minor.

If you are very interested, then consider the BAD one will have no warning like a sun spot, it is different than a CME and is called an FTE.

You will know when it occurs, it starts with an eerie silence... that would be the sound of no electricity.

Check out the dirty dozen...

To AC 914377, regarding your link to the Induction Magnetometer.....can you, or maybe SS, or ?? please tell me what that means for the location?

It's just that I am in Alaska, and am trying to find out what happens here, when there are flares, CMEs and so forth. Perhaps I might be able to provide some relative information, even if only "heresay".

Wow. I'm sorry no one has answered the question or pointed you in the direction of the answer.

Usually a "moderate" size CME can be "BAD" if it is pointed in the right direction. ie; headed straight for us. Another way a CME can be "BAD" for us is if it's "polarity" is different that ours at the time of impact. It's basically impossible to know that until it hits, though.

I believe that the reason that the CME being discussed originally could have been "BAD" was because it's arrival coincided with the arrival of "stuff" from the coronal hole. Kinda a two punch scenario.

Our magnetosphere has been taking a beating recently, so even a medium sized CME, given the right polarity and intensity can do some damage to electrical stuff on earth.

I hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask. Sorry it took so long to answer.

I think that was just a worst case scenario/better safe than sorry. I don't think anyone in the world could predict June as a for-sure thing, I think Boeing OP was just getting his affairs in order to make sure his family was safe, since it is expected that things will begin to ramp up this summer and only get worse heading into solar max in 2012/2013.
