Japanese, Russian Warships To Sail Into SF Bay

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / AP) Four foreign warships are expected to sail into San Francisco Bay on the same day later this month.

In a rare visit to the city, the Russian guided missile cruiser Varyag is due to arrive June 20 for a five-day stay in San Francisco.

A spokesman for the Russian Pacific Fleet says the warship left Vladivostok with a Russian navy tanker and a salvage tug June 4. It was not known if the two other ships will also visit the city.

Three Japanese Self-Defense Force warships are also due to arrive in San Francisco June 20.
