I had one exposure at low levels but it was enough to cause mild convulsions, rapid heart beat and dizziness. It was a spill in a factory while I was painting the place. It was new construction and the last stages were being done. Moving in equipment and initial supplies. I was exposed for about 1 minute, mild levels. 6 months later I had Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage II with a bilky mass in my chest and another cancer mass that wrapped around the top of my heart and arteries. The lymphoma started in my lymphnodes and throat area where it was inhaled. I am cured now but I was lucky. I received compensation and damages and now I can live in comfort but I'm not rich over it. I still have side effects to this day years later. My fingers are partially numb, I get panic attacks out of no where and I have a benign cyst in my spinal cord. The treatment was an agonizing 9 months of misery, depression and pain. The chemotherapy saturated my body twice a week and I felt sick as hell, weak and down right aweful. I developed a tolerance to oxycodone as I had to use it or else I would have lost my mind and suffered even greater. So when the treatment was over I had to face withdrawal of opiates too. Take it from me, you do NOT want to be inhaling benzene. A 1minute exposure caused all of this in my life. Imagine what daily exposure can do. Do NOT fuck around and do NOT allow innocent children to suffer from this. Look what benzene did to me, it will happen to you too. You do not want what I had to go through. I wouldn't wish it on a worst enemy if I had one. Leave the Gulf Coast. You will look back if you don't and beg why you didn't then. Hind sight is a bitch when you deny your gut feelings. |

Lots of that down there...../BS Quoting: Anonymous Coward 989593The ocean water is 30deg. F at 5000' down. yes, but the oil coming out is over the boiling point for water---200-500% at that depth in the Earth;s crust---the pocket of oil is 4 miles down. That is why this is such a problem---depth changes all the rules. They were poking around beyond our capability to deal with unpredictable variables---engineering is difficult down there due to the extreme pressure. There is more gas in the deposit than we are aware. Also minerals like vanadium and nickel in the supposedly clear water which are poisonous to humans. |

I've never seen this shit before in my 32 years. I don't yet know what it is, but it's all I need to know for me to get the fuck outta here. I'll take some pictures and post them later today. And I doubt I put a bullet in my head, although the thought, for the first time in my life has crossed my mind several times within the past few weeks. I've never lived my life in fear, I think for the 1st time, I'm finally experiencing what true fear is, and with that, comes the thought of the unknown. If I stay, I have a pretty good idea with what I'm going to be dealing with. If I go, I leave my entire family behind, but also know I have the ability to start over again, albeit, in a load of fucking debt. My folks live less than 5 minutes from Mobile Bay in Fairhope. They're in it for the long haul, no way their leaving. The rest of my family, most of which I have little contact with, also live in Mobile. If the worst happens to them, I'm alone in this world. I have friends, but no more family. That's the thought that truly disturbs me. |

Both low and high exposure symptoms. Quoting: OVRANALYZEHydrogen Sulfide exposure symptoms(H2S) Rotten egg sour gas Chronic low-level exposure of hydrogen sulfide results primarily in irritation to mucous membranes and the respiratory system. People exposed to hydrogen sulfide can lose their ability to smell the gas even though it is still present in the environment. Low-level exposure of hydrogen sulfide most often affects the mucous membranes and may show the following few physical signs: o Conjunctivitis (even at levels of only 4 ppm) o Pharyngitis o Wheezing o Headaches o Asthenia o Bronchitis High-level exposures of hydrogen sulfide result in more neurologic and pulmonary symptoms. o Cough o Dyspnea o Vertigo o Confusion o Nausea and vomiting o Possible loss of consciousness o Hemoptysis Very high concentrations lead to cardiorespiratory arrest because of brainstem toxicity. o Myocardial infarction o Sudden loss of consciousness ("knockdown") o Seizure o Cardiopulmonary arrest o Bradycardia o Tremulousness o Agitation o Cyanosis o Acute respiratory distress syndrome [ARDS]) You forgot to list DEATH as one of the effects of high concentrations. |

Legally Obama cannot supsend the Jones Act. BUT Congress could repeal it even immediatly today... so where is Congress on this? Let's not just put all this on Obama, Congress is sleeping more than even Obama. Sure they are posturing with their hearings... but however just repealing the Jones Act today? It won't happen. Slow death Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1004852It kills you faster than that. It robs your blood of oxygen. At those concentrations, it can knock you out and kill you quick. It is slightly heavier than air, but not much so wind and other factors can keep it off the ground. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 919177Source of info personal experience. If it were from the chemo yes, it will go away. Unfortunately mine is from the resulting Syringomyelia. I have a syrinx in my spinal cord now from the radiation and chemo. It is benign but it is from C2 to the end of the cervical part of the spine. It disturbs my neurotransmission mostly through my upper shoulders, lower neck and down the arms. I also have a lack of temperature sensetivity generally over my whole body except for above my neck. I was advised to use gabapentin and oxycodone but I pass. Oxycodone is a sweet angel at first, but it transforms into a hellish devil after a few months. Never use for more then a week straight, you will regret it. I deal with various sensations through bench press and sprinting mile runs on the track. The endorphin rush really helps. The whole ordeal actually made my life more healthy so there is a great positive after the fact. |

Sometimes you need to do what you know is right, pave the way and lead by example. If they see you pull it off they may follow. Sometimes people WILL uproot and move but they need a leader to make it happen. Otherwise they will not move. In this case, you may be that leader. In the worst case scenario, you will be able to carry on the memory of who they were and keep the family genes going onward. God Bless |
