GAS EXPANSION!!!!!!!!

If their is a gas bubble under the well head in the gulf that is 20 miles by 5 miles and tens of feet tall. Depending on the pressue of the toxic gas down there will dictate how may times that the gas bubble will expand when it reaches the surface of the gulf. So this gas could possibly expand 500 to 1000 times it's size. So if you do the simple math that's 20000 miles by 5000 miles of gas... That's right people the expansion rate on this gas is so serious it's biblical. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE will be gassed and drowned. Because of that kind of expansion the water displacement will also be biblical. I work with these toxic compressed gas for a living. Stuff that is so deadly that one whiff and your pushing daisy. Parts of our plant is 99% H2S gas very deadly. This stuff kill so fast you will be at th pearly gates before you hit the ground. So I don't know why the people are not being better prepared and informed of this potential disater. This is a serious emergency and a ticking time bomb I also have to say that the EPA samples that where taken on the gulf coast. If those results were detected in our plant we would be evacuating and dawning SCBA to contain or isolate the leak. So to have the general public breathing the toxic air why does BP say it's safe and my companys policies say I need a saftey equiptment???? This is why Richard Hogland is so concerned as well as all the people in the area. Oh yeah if a tunami wave where to happen how many drilling and production platfoarms would sink and create another one of these disasters???? This disater gets better everyday. GOD HELP US!!!!!!!

Let's do some math. If 40000 barrels of gas has been blowing out of the lodge poll blow out. At the surface the gas would expand to 5.4 million barrels. So depending on the pressure of that well which could be anywhere from 20000 to 100000 psi this will dictate the expansion rate when the gas reaches the surface of the gulf (atmospheric pressure).


Gas is not measured in barrels.

Hello. The seafloor is not stable. Ask SHR. He said it is like swiss f*cking cheese. The seafloor around the blowout was CRACKING in FEBRUARY. BP knew it then. When it gives? What then? A whole lot of oil, gas, who knows what comes rushing out.

ok, but this is based on it releasing a lot of the gas or all of the gas at once, right?

couldn't it just continuing spewing in less dangerous amounts?

what is left in there gas-wise once the deposit empties? just traces of gas or more?

More info please. are you saying that maybe the gas wont spread to land or explode? If so can you scientifically back this for us ?

This is not a hypothisis it's fact . In our processes we have what one would call pressure vessels. In some of these vessels we can compress gases 100 times atmospheric pressure. This means the more gas we put in a vessel the higher the pressure. This means we can put a big volume of gas in a small area. To make it more simple think of a propane tank. That gas in the tank is pressurized and compressed in the tank to contain certain volume of gas. If pressurized enough the propane will turn into a liquid in the thank. But as soon as you open the valve that gas will flash from a liquid to a gas and vaporize when it hit atmospheric pressure. So what seems to be under 5 Gallons of liquid in that tank when released to atmosphere will expand to 500 gallons of gas. 1 drop of water turned into superheated steam will expand 1700 times it's original volume. So now that single drop of water will now occupie a space 1700 times it's original size. This is how steam boilers produce the energy to turn a steam turbine by expanding high pressure steam across the turbine blades so it can turn a generator. So if that gas bubble is at a certain pessure down their when relesed to the surface will expand a certain amount. So the higher the pressure the more expansion will take place when released to atomspheric pressure. That why I say that bubble has the potential to expanding 500 times it original volume when it reach the surface of the gulf. So if a person does the simple math and that gas bubble is 20 miles by 5 miles in the ground depending on it pressure. If it expands 500 times Its original size when it reaches the surface that gas is now 10000 miles by 100 miles because that gas volume will occupie more space at atmospheric pressure. I hope I'm beening clear I am just tring to explain how serious this could be if the gas reieases at once. It wiil depend on how pressurized the gas is in the formation that will dictate how much that gas will truely expand.
