Anonymous Coward User ID: 962698 Australia 06/19/2010 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A better and much longer article [link to www.sciencedaily.com] Arsenic levels from well drinking-water and repeated biennial urine samples of 12,000 subjects were associated with deaths in that population over the last decade. For the 25 percent of people exposed to the highest levels of arsenic, mortality risk increased by nearly 70 percent, the study determined. People exposed to moderate levels of the poisonous chemical also exhibited increased deaths from chronic disease, relative to those whose exposure was within WHO recommendations of 10 parts per million. ... Subjects with moderate arsenic exposure were at a smaller yet still elevated risk of mortality. When the entire population exposed to arsenic levels above the WHO guideline was combined, 21.4 percent of all deaths and 23.5 percent of deaths from chronic disease could be attributed to arsenic exposure, the authors wrote. |

I guess testing drinking water is a luxury in the really poor 3rd world countries. What about all the foreign aid the US sends them; isn't some of it supposed to be for basic health programs such as assuring safe water? Or did it get stolen by corrupt govt officials as usual? |

THEY TRIED TO KILL US! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1008562lockheed had a huge place of ponds where they dumped the stuff from the batteries, a very toxic brew. lots of arsenic and more. i lived about 3 miles from it, exposed to it for like 15 yrs. alot of people got money from a settlement, but by the time i found out about it and a new settlement had started, lockheed was able to jump thru a statute of limitations loophole. too bad the cancer it causes doesn't have a statute of limitations. i think there was like 10 million gallons of the sht dumped in there. it was all in our groundwater. this has been going on all over the world for a long ass time. tptb are mass murderers. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1008562[link to news.bbc.co.uk] Up to 77 million people in Bangladesh have been exposed to toxic levels of arsenic from drinking water in recent decades, according to a Lancet study. The research assessed nearly 12,000 people in a district of the capital Dhaka for over a period of 10 years. More than 20% of deaths among those assessed were caused by the naturally occurring poisonous element !!! Population-reduction in action. It's only going to get worse folks. |

gnostic User ID: 915218 United States 06/19/2010 05:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | how can no one on here have nothing to say about this Quoting: Anonymous Coward 911436Because the OP is either stupid, or faking doom. 20% of 12,000 people assessed. Not 20% of 77 million. See a slight difference there? Also, Americans probably thought it meant "77 meters poisoned" and tuned out at that point. Anyway, when you lie in the title, then you'll either get flamed or ignored. Nothing really matters. Unless you think it does. |
