Is a Really Bad Toothache the Worst Pain There Is?

Had a stab wound through my hand. Knife went throuh my palm and out the other side between my first and middle finger bones. Made a toothache seem rather pleasant. The worst part was at the hospital waiting for the Dr. I was keeping pressure on it to slow the bleeding and it felt like my hand was blowing up like a balloon.


I would imagine a severe, prolonged burn would be the worst as other posters have mentioned.

Tooth aches are the worst. I had one last year. Huge cavity in one the molars. I prayed for death, was on the floor crying and screaming in agony.

Eventually the pain subsided but I developed an abscess on the gum of that tooth, figured I should probably go to the dentist since it could become dangerous if left untreated.

Dentist gave me some antibiotics and told me to come back in 10 days for a root canal. Ugh, that wasn't fun, but a cake walk compared to the pain I experienced.

Get your ass to the dentist, OP!

By the way, I forgot to mention, Orajel helped a bit, but I had to apply it every 20 minutes. So did rinsing with salt water.

OP, I have had tooth pain so bad I wished to die. It can be agony, pure and simple.

One thing I recently learned is people with severe tooth pain can go to the ER and be seen/given pain meds and even have emergency extractions done. Apparently, ER's always have a dentist they can get in for this.

Don't overdo the OTC meds, you can do permanent liver damage.

Another option I have used is Ambien - doesn't stop the pain but the next day you don't remember being miserable.

Sciatica. Yes. Crawling inch by inch on your hands and knees. but I'm not a woman so can't comment on childbirth, but been told both are equally bad - except sciatica lasts for weeks.

Rheumatoid arthritis (without meds).

After my gall bladder was removed, I woke up in horrible pain... post-op c-section wasn't even close to what I felt.

I actually started to go into shock in the recovery room.

The worst pain I've ever felt is when I accidentally lit my nut sack on fire and my balls went up in flames. Then my giant 3 foot slong caught fire and also went up in flames, that was the second most painful.

Try walking around with epididymitis (testicular infection) - that hurts really, really bad...

Noooo the stones were ALOT worse than labor pains.

I've had an infection, dentist gave me antibotics, then i've come on holiday, i finished the antibiotics a week ago and now the pain is like nothing ive ever felt, its 5am where i am right now and only writing this to think about somthing else. if i bite down on the tooth, the pain is sickening, i am also going crazy.

There is also fear of being in this country and i cant get it fixed till i get home.

It's the worst pain in the world becusae it goes right through your nerves, that is why its the worst pain in the world, it will never go away, its the nerves, its right there, its omg, i'd much rather break a bone or childbirth as these are physical pain to that point in time, there is somthing so nasty about this right now, ive even started crying from pain and madness, I'm 27 btw.

I used to think migranes were bad but right now, in this moment in time, i can tell you no problem that this is the worst pain ive ever been in.

P.s. ive had many tooth aches and this is a proper one.

Had an abscessed tooth so bad once, I was SOBBING from the pain and could not stop. Ended up going to ER in the middle of the night, the doc gave me antibiotics immediately and a script for Tylenol 3's. They worked, but I could not get them until the next day. I wanted to scream and shoot myself in the face to make it stop. It was AWFUL. As soon as the antibiotics knocked the infection down I had that sucker pulled.

Kidney Stones and Child Birth are the two worse pains.

There is no worst pain than burned skin.

I've had two teeth fall right out of my mouth from basically rotting away, nerves and all, infections...everything. That horrible mind altering pain that you deal with day and night for months (can't afford a dentist).

And it was nothing compared to the time I had a Portuguese Man O' War (Jellyfish) wrap itself around my leg.

That pain was like...having someone take a radioactive saw, set it on fire until it's molten red and then saw into your leg while pouring salty lemonade on the wound as he went along, slowly sawing in to your skin, bones and nerves.

Then when he's done, he sets you on fire and pisses on you to put it out while electrocuting you with a tazer plugged directly into your knees.

It makes you want to get really good at science so you can invent a time machine and go back in time to before you ever felt that kind of pain because it's something that is almost just...inconceivably horrible.

Kidney stones and an injured siatica nerve. Kidney stones...all the way. The only thing that could possibly be worse is being boiled alive.

I've had 3 kids without pain meds or screaming and yet it only took an inflamed nerve in a molar to drop me to my knees, the tooth was capped so clove oil didn't help, root canal did the trick. I feel where the OP is coming from.

get a little glass, put in 1/2 water, just a little, and 1/2 bleach. find a way to get the mixture in your cavity or on the tooth or teeth and under the gums.

Leave on for about six to seven seconds, then rinse, do this three to four times. It will kill the pain and the infection.

Make sure the tooth is the right one, sometimes a tooth cavity above will cause the teeth below to hurt.

Make sure you wear clothes that you can throw away, bleach stains will get on them.

I've had an abscessed tooth and I was never happier to go get that root canal. You shouldn't put it off, it's really bad to have infection around the brain and besides the pain is fucking unspeakable. If you can't have all the work done right now at least have them take the nerve out.

put some Icy Hot on a Q Tip and stick it in the end of your dick and you'll forget about the tooth ache pretty quickly.

It's sad, I really think the docs are afraid to treat you in an emergency room. It's now such a litigeous culture, we've lost our edge medically and socially. I feel sorry for old people and I feel sorry for people in the convalescent business. I don't know how anyone can make it at anything these days with the government and the lawyers and the insurance.

A tumor removed from inside of my head 3 times (3 different tumors) They had to cut off my ear drill threw the skull and remove the growth. Three skin grafts and two muscle grafts and 2 months of recovery. Now that hurt.

But to be far about it………….the worse pain that you have felt in your life hurts the same as the worst pain in my life. Saying they are equal because one would know no different.

Tooth pain is bad though.
