Yes I saw some names there that I would have liked to talk with. I am told my English is ...well...understandable. Maybe we need a German language section, people might let me in?

Horizontal Gene Transfer is particularly fascinating, considering the blurred classifications of lower order specii such as the "Bryozoan"...a fungus, or a plant..or a cross kingdom adapting species which has learnt to read?

.....aaand on your left, you will see the fantastic rock outcrops with the petroglyphs of cultures long ago...

Either I am doing soemthing wrong or that software has a glitch. Maybe it does not speak German? Anyway it seems like when I finally got it to take what I typed,it seemed to just disappear.Like it went somewhere else. I am on Linux if that makes a difference. That room needs instructions so peeps know if they are doing things right. Or are you just supposed to know these things? I stay away from vebal chats generally, those who have heard me talk know why.

Lurk'n I thank you for your effort but I could not get anything to work. I hope they do this again, maybe I will have figured out what I did wrong.

I tried one last time got some strange person on there. No answer again I finally wrote "Fuck it" in German and gave up. Nobody can see it anyway, might as well express myself. :)

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
Oh well whoopie freaking do, have a look at who's a'comin to my town:

On Febuary 12, 2011, a panel of distinguished scientists will discuss if and how we can answer one of the most intriguing questions humans ask: What is life?

Following on the heels of its successful inaugural debate in November 2010, the ASU Origins Project is pleased to present its second Great Debate at 7 pm on Saturday, February 12 at ASU Gammage Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and $10 plus facilities fee and are available at the ASU Gammage Box Office (480.965.3434) and ticketmaster.com.

The debate will gather a remarkable collection of scientists whose particular perspectives range from the cosmic to the microscopic.

Noted author and accomplished evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins is the former Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. His bestselling book, The Selfish Gene, transformed the way we think about evolutionary and the function of genes.

NASA planetary scientist Chris McKay studies the evolution of the solar system and the origin of life. Actively engaged in planning the next Mars mission, including human the development of human settlements, McKay’s research takes him to Mars-like environments on Earth, including Siberia and the Antartic.

ASU physicist Paul Davies has long pondered the origin of life, and was one of the first to suggest that life on Earth may have come from Mars. His current work posits that Earth may have an alternate, shadow biosphere of “weird” life to which existing scientific inquiry has been blind.

The panel also includes two Nobel prize winners: Lee Hartwell and Sidney Altman.

Hartwell won the Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology in 2001 for discovering the genes that control cell division. His discovery pointed to the unity of all life and catalyzed new avenues of cancer research.

Altman won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1989 for his discovery of the catalytic properties of RNA, a discovery that upended existing notions of the origin of life. Altman recently accepted a position as Origins Project Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Biologist and entrepreneur J. Craig Venter rounds out the panel. One of the first individuals to sequence the human genome, Venter established the J. Craig Venter Institute, which not only sequences genomes, but has created synthetic, self-replicating organisms.

The panel will discuss whether we can accurately define life, where and when life originated, how we can search for the origin of life, and whether we can and should produce life in the laboratory.

The discussion will be emceed by ASU Origins Project Director, Lawrence Krauss, and moderated by The Science Network’s Roger Bingham.

VC is frustrating I don't see how you guys put up with it.Sounds keep breaking up. Worse than flying my old Cessna with shitty radio. I avoided tower controlled airports if possible. At least with small plane you can flash landing lights and they figure you are having trouble and give you a straight in approach. Just be sure to taxi to repair hangar if you do that trick.

Hans...will you quit please...I have tears running down my cheeks from laughing and my dog is howling because of it....IT ISN'T ABOUT YOU...WE WERE ALL TRYING TO HELP YOU...so take it slow and easy...and try not to get frustrated...some things take a little time...but we are so used to pushing buttons and having things happen automatically/instantly, that we no longer have any patience for anything that doesn't work quite right first time around...take a deep breath and try again...I have a kid to feed so I'm going to be out for a while...but I WILL BE BACK LATER...and lurk'n is still there I believe..

A huge star ejected from a binary system has been photographed slamming headlong through a barrier of cosmic dust, creating a shockwave that shines in brilliant yellow in infrared views.

The star, called Zeta Ophiuchi, is a stellar behemoth with about 20 times the mass of our sun and would be 65,000 times brighter if it weren't surrounded by a thick blanket of dust. It is about 4 million years old and is 460 light-years away from Earth. The star is zooming through space at a whopping 54,000 mph (nearly 87,000 kph), according to NASA scientists.

Given the Chinese interest in decoding the Mayan glyphs and their SIM's, I recall reading that the number 144 also features in Mayan astronomy ~ it is the time, in seconds, it takes for the disc of the Sun to set (ie the time from when the bottom edge touches the Horizon until the Sun is totally Set) on the Equator and during an Equinox. I think it was dubbed the "Solar Unit"... I'm not sure if it's relevant but some may find it interesting/helpful?

And is there any control for this stuff? I can easily think of a scenario where it gets out of control and eats everything in its path. Good plot for a Sy-Fy movie.
If you think about it, oil eating bacteria could get out of hand, and start going after ALL petroleum products. Like Plastics. My Volkswagen, Al Gore's Prius, you get the picture.

theories and facts first discussed here are hitting the mass propaganda machine??

Genetically-modified, oil-eating bacteria creating dangerous mutant organisms in the Gulf

"Even the most creative science fiction movie could not have concocted the reality of what is taking place both in the Gulf of Mexico and around the world right now. Genetically-modified (GM), oil-eating bacteria introduced into the Gulf as part of the oil disaster's remediation efforts is reportedly causing the emergence of various other mutant bacteria, as well as increasingly-severe harm to humans and the environment."

Yes, often msm propaganda machine uses theories and facts first discussed on 'net boards. Had to laugh when there was discussion of filing suit against bloggers for "using" msm material without permission. Often, it is the other way around. Watch HuffyPost. Many times that column prints articles only after the message boards like glp have had discussion.

No doubt in my mind that the BEZERK thread group has been used to test theories for explaining to the general public just how an extinction-deadly virus was unleashed. The purpose being, or course, coverup.
