Mysterious Siberian Holes Now Classified As “Potential National Threat”

[link to www.whatdoesitmean.com]

Further initial examination on one of these holes by Doctor-Scientist Marina Leibman of the IEC, this report says, revealed it to be of “recent origin” with her also stating her belief it was caused by a buildup and release of methane gas.

Subsequent reports, however, from both the AAIR and IEC reveal these holes to have possibly contained “unknown atmospheric objects” with MoD experts likening them to “hardened” missile silos [photo 2nd left] due to their cylindrical shape [photo 3rd left] and their apparently being drilled well into, and below, the permafrost layer.

Even more “puzzling” about these holes, MoD experts in this report say, was not the outward ejection of material from them, but there not existing anywhere near these three “blast craters” the amount of ejected material [photo bottom left] one could expect should an internal methane explosion have occurred. [See video HERE]

For example, this report continues, with the (approximate/classified) silo dimensions of a R-36 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) having a depth of 46 meters (150 feet) and a diameter of 12 meters (40 feet), the volume of material ejected would equal 57,455 cubic meters (188,496 cubic feet), an amount of ejected material not found even close to this number near any of the three holes examined.

What is more likely involved with these three holes, this report speculates, and based upon the “observed and examined” ejected material, was that each of these three holes contained “atmospheric objects” of “unknown/uncertain” origin which by their absence one can conclude they were “activated” and then launched.

To what could have “triggered/activated” these “atmospheric objects” into launching, this report continues, are the unprecedented magnetic fluctuations now occurring over the Siberian region which the European Space Agency (ESA) at a conference in Copenhagen in June warned about by stating that the Earth’s north magnetic pole is drifting south toward this area at an accelerating rate.

Also from the article

"With the last magnetic pole reversal for Earth occurring over 780,000 years ago, but with knowing too that over the course of the last 20 million years the pattern of pole reversals has been at a steady 200,000-300,000 years, this MoD report concludes, it cannot be ruled out that these mysterious “atmospheric objects” recently ejected from Siberia may be some type of early warning system of a catastrophic event about to occur."

"Vast methane plumes escaping from the seafloor" discovered in Siberian Arctic Sea
[link to www.dailykos.com]

Methane megaflare on Laptev Sea slope at around 62m depth. "We are “sniffing” methane. We see the bubbles on video from the camera mounted on the CTD or the Multicorer. All analysis tells the signs. We are in a Mega flare. We see it in the water column we read it above the surface an we follow it up high into the sky with radars and lasers. We see it mixed in the air and carried away with the winds. Methane in the air."

elevated methane levels, about 10-50 times higher than in background seawater

Örjan Gustafsson thinks that the mechanism behind the presence of methane seeps at these depths may have something to do with the ”tongue” of relatively warm Atlantic water, presumably intruding across the Arctic Ocean at 200–600 m depths.” Some evidence have shown that this water mass has recently become warmer. As this warm Atlantic water, the last remnants of the Gulf Stream, propagates eastward along the upper slope of the East Siberian margin, it may lead to destabilization of methane hydrates on the upper portion of the slope. This may be what we are now seeing for the first time,” writes Örjan Gustafsson.

So if the Gulf Stream was getting warmer and was releasing more and more methane from hydrates, the solution would be to disrupt the Gulf Stream with an oil/co-rexit mix.

Hello Lost Angel :)
Tnx for posting !

Although I think that it highly unlikely that "atmospheric objects" have been probed/launched from these hidden locations ... for a simple reason that they would have been noticed going up by locals, by seismic register stations and by satellite-images [spy and regular] !!!

The unprecedented magnetic fluctuations over Siberia are due to the changing magnetic North-pole. That whole area is changing in a rapid way becoz of this.

I really appreciate your post, but imo it is not close to what really happened hf

THAT is actually a GREAT THOUGHT !!!

But it seems that has not worked well enough ... otherwise we indeed would have been having overall minor-ice-age temperatures instead of local [Like in the west European locations and North America itself].

What could have gone wrong or differently is that water reacts more to magnetic changes, and is therefore being drawn to the North.
Maybe the EXTRA ADDITION of IRON PARTICLES to the Gulf-waters has backfired and created an even stronger pull towards the North ... ???

An other factor we must incorporate is the magma-flows beneath the ocean-floors.
In fact many complex systems in the water, in the air and below the plates deep into the crust and even below that play into each other like interactive sections.

I agree with you that the GOM-event could have also [amongst many other reasons] being meant to slow down the Northern ice melt ...
that would fit with the DEEP-FREEZE mention in this thread.

Thanx for posting !

Hey...Newbe here--why do you run this thread when
the Forum has some of the same topics. Is there
less spam and nutters on your thread? It's kindof
like a spin-off, right--or do you have some other
kind of "mission" in mind? Just for certain people
with higher I.Q.'s? Just wondering. Interesting

Hello DVKI hf
Welcome to our 4 years old thread :)

This thread was started becoz we received some "inside information" [or controlled leaks] from employees from think-tanks.
It all started with the GOM, but soon it became clear that it involved many more theatres around the world, and that it was not only about OIL but about ancient organisms vs genetic-manipulated/AI organisms.
We have investigated many countries involved in this intrigue. We have been attended on the events as has been unfolding in recent times ... we could see them coming [Japan-Fuku, the BRICS opposition, Lybia, and others too].
We have looked into biology, geology, politics, technic inventions, genes, history, science etc ...
We also understood that the GOM oil-spill event was only a reaction to what was ongoing already and was spinning out of control, and what resulted in the collapse of salt-domes, which could ultimately set off a cascade-event of America breaking up and forming an Inner Sea from the Gulf until the Great Lakes ....

The countries which are now opposing the BRICS have been called ODESSA-ALLIANCE with a Odessa-navy fleet which was told by Japan to "heck-off within 90 days" ... a few months later they were targeted with Fukushima, "The Black Ring around Japan".

We are all normal people with a passion for sleuthing and researching and seeking truth.

Almost all post have relationship to earlier mentioned sections made by our OP or becoz of proven theories/facts earlier in this thread.
People who are long-time lurkers/posters know this or remember those aspects and fragments.

recently we have had almost no "nutters" or "spammers" in here ...lol... But believe me we had our times of nastyness and troubles and personal attacks in the past, but that is far behind us now.
Its more that other threads are 'spin-off's' of this thread !!! LOL !!!
We have a few threads that directly link to this one. They never became big but nevertheless they contain great stuff too and are easier to read through hahahaha

The innitial OP did have A MISSION, but that didnt work quite as they had planned hahahaha .. instead we trusted our own guts and collected related data to debunk or to enforce things we thought were important.

Thanks to this thread we "Bezerkers" have a wider view on the ongoing events. And current or sudden events are easier to understand and fit a lot of times in the contents we researched the past four years.

You are welcome, every-one with a passion for research and truth is.
We all try to link our posts to aspects of "Bezerkness".

grimmlord would like to briefly come out of hibernation
and sing an ode to the illuminists who re-engineered
the ebola with their zinc fingers and set it loose on
the world :

I watch from a tower in the back of my mind
I watch from a window as the living walk by
Down below
Walking with quiet dreams
Walking out quiet day
And in my head
I might be sorry it makes no difference now
I might be wishing I had someplace to go
Hit the streets
Out in search for the self that has left me lying
And I never seem to notice
It's too late before I know that all
The love inside has been empty
The world we made has been ending
And like a ghost that hangs around and won't forgive its earthly sins
I've carried on this love for you
It's how my body lives

My darling
How are you?
How have you been lately?
I only seem to speak to you of superficial things

Creator, you destroy me
You know my hunger well
And yet you starve me
Until I'm begging on my knees

And these are a few of very many things
I can't begin to say out loud
If only this song could carry us on
But I know I'm only entertaining myself

I felt that even after I've been stripped of all my pride
There still remains a place for you to crawl up inside
To crawl up inside
To crawl up inside
And I'm out of my mind
Out of my mind
Murderous bitch I'm out of my mind
I'm out of my mind
To be in love with you
The way that I'm in love with you
The way that I'm in love with you

Fuck this and everything we've done
Fuck you
Fuck you and your lies

In this regard I will repost some posts from the UKRAINE-thread
becoz I believe that there is a relationship between it.

The recent clash between Azerbaijan and Armenia is no coincident ! Azerbaijan allies with the US and Armenia with Russia.
An article of Gordon Duff got my attention and led to the following posts:

I dont trust Gordon Duck errr Duff
But could this also be why Azerbaijan is in hell right now ?

RT: Jets attacking civilians in East #Ukraine flying with UA Force markings, traced to bases overseas.
[link to www.veteranstoday.com] …

snip :
Canadian journalist, Geoffrey West, working with online “plane spotting” groups has identified combat aircraft flying “packages” over Ukrainian air space as taking off from NATO and other facilities.

“What I discovered on Thursday evening using the tracking website… that a number of ‘no call sign’ flights were detected in the Ukraine/Black Sea region. My friend observed one that appeared to land in Bucharest. I observed one that appeared to land in Chisinau, Moldova.”

Others appeared to originate from what were believed to be abandoned air fields in
Azerbaijan, facilities identified in 2012 by defectors from the Azerbaijani military, as Israeli bases to be used in an attack on Iran.

This is more than an attempt to avoid detection by Russian air defense radars capable of warning pro-Russian separatists opposing the Kiev junta.

This is a gross violation of international law, of national sovereignty of the nations involved and an unauthorized use of NATO military forces, some under the direct command of General Breedlove, in a clandestine terror war against civilians, many of them Russian passport holders.

????
Why would DUFF report this ?
There is always a CATCH to his articles, or an adder beneath the grass ...

Lateron in his article he mentions Romania as where the jets with phosphorus-bombs took off from ...
What is he doing ???

snip:
Other weapons storage centers are at Aviano Air Force Base in Italy, Camp Darby US Army Weapons Depot outside Pisa in Italy, on the British held Indian Ocean base on the Island of Diego Garcia and in forward deployment at MK Air Base in Romania.

Romania again ...

AND DIEGO GARCIA !!!! The Island where MH370 was last seen landing !!!!!

Whoooooaaaaaaaaaa scared

snip:
More inventories of American weapons are in Azerbaijan, unloaded at the Georgian port of Poti by the USS Grapple in June of 2010 and transferred, according to sources in Georgia, by truck into Azerbaijan.

Giving General Dempsey the benefit of the doubt, he may well be “out of the loop” on the fact that the United States aided by Poland, Romania, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Israel, the latter two not NATO members, has violated both international and American law, or so the evidence would indicate.

So is the unrest in Azerbaijan about getting LEGALLY to those stored weapons ????
For later use against ... Ukrainian civilians [all who disagree are authomatically terrorists] and against Russia ???

New War Risk on Russian Fringe Amid Armenia-Azeri Clashes
Azerbaijan has forged closer ties with Israel and NATO-member Turkey and increased defense spending 27-fold to $3.7 billion a year in the past decade, outlays that exceed Armenia’s annual budget. Armenia hosts a Russian military base in its second-biggest town of Gyumri, near the Turkish border, and Russian troops guard Armenia’s borders with Iran and Turkey.

Companies led by London-based BP have invested more than $40 billion in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas fields. Azerbaijan can pump as much as 1.2 million barrels a day of oil to Turkey through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which allows supplies to bypass Russia, and at its closest point lies about 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Nagorno-Karabakh.
[link to www.bloomberg.com]

Here's a weird timeline:

29/7/14 in this video there is mention of an Israeli airbase in Azerbaijan.

A day or 2 later conflict breaks out between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

1/8/14 This report comes out talking about a big false flag attack using chemical weapons by the UAF and then blaming it on the rebels.

2/8/14 weird flight patterns involving the UAF and a couple of other countries.

I feel something bad is going to occur in the next day or 2 involving a false flag attack and chemical weapons.

Side note: for some funny reason I have been having trouble trying to post this report. scratching

Wiki: [link to en.wikipedia.org]
In March 2012, the magazine Foreign Policy reported that the Israeli Air Force may be preparing to use the Sitalchay Military Airbase, located 500 km (340 miles) from the Iranian border, for air strikes against the nuclear program of Iran.
Dozens of Israeli companies are active in the Azerbaijani energy sector. For instance, Modcon Systems Ltd., an Israel-based supplier of high technology to the oil and gas industries, opened a branch in Azerbaijan.

On 29 March 2012, officials said that Israel was granted access to air bases in Azerbaijan through a "series of quiet political and military understandings." These airbases could potentially be used in a strike against Iran over its nuclear program and other tensions with Iran, and would be allowed by Azerbaijan.[25]
On 30 September 2012, it was reported that Azerbaijan and Israel jointly examined the use of Azeri air bases and spy drones to help Israeli jets perform a long-range strike on Iran. This would help Israel in regards to issues with refueling, reconnaissance, and rescuing crews, and could make an attack more feasible.[26] The plan apparently involves using an Israeli tanker aircraft painted in the colors of a third country airline company that would land and refuel in Azerbaijan and then refuel the Israeli strike aircraft

** Russia left in 2012 and Israel comes in ...

Russian radar in Armenia to block an US/Israeli strike on Iran from the north
[link to www.p-----] planet.com/russian-radar-in-armenia-to-block-an-usisraeli-strike-on-iran-from-the-north.html
In Yerevan, the Russian minister finalized a deal for the establishment of an advanced Russian radar station in the Armenian mountains to counter the US radar set up at the Turkish Kurecik air base, our sources disclose.

The Russian 102nd Military Base is a Russian military base in Gyumri, Armenia, part of the Transcaucasian Group of Forces. It was formerly the Soviet Army's 127th Motor Rifle Division of the Soviet Seventh Guards Army. The base is about 120 kilometers (75 mi) north of the Armenian capital, Yerevan. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

List of Russian military bases abroad
[link to en.wikipedia.org]
Nowadays Russia has military bases and military objects in foreign countries, especially on the territory of the former Soviet Republics (in Armenia, Tajikistan, Georgian disputed regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Transnistria).

Untill 2012 there was one in Azerbaijan but it is closed and given back to Azerbaijan:

Gabala Radar Station

Gabala Radar Station bistatic Passive electronically scanned array early warning radar,[2] built by the Soviet Union in the Qabala district of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1985.[3] It was operated by the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces and closed at the end of 2012. The radar station had a range of up to 6,000 kilometres (3,728 mi), and was designed to detect missile launches as far as the Indian Ocean.[4] The radar's surveillance covered Iran, Turkey, India, Iraq and the entire Middle East.[5] It could detect the launch of missiles and track the whole trajectory to enable a ballistic missile defense system to intercept an offensive strike. The Radar Station hosted about 1,000 Russian servicemen with about 500 Azerbaijanis.[6]

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan negotiated the terms of the lease and in 2002 the two countries signed an agreement according to which Russia leased the station from Azerbaijan until 24 December 2012 for $7 million per year rent, $5 million per year for electricity and $10 million per year for other services.[3][6][7]

In 2012 the future of the station was being negotiated between Russia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Armenia have ongoing tension and Russia and Armenia are close. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan are members of the CIS but only Armenia is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. Russia has a new Voronezh radar in Armavir [link to en.wikipedia.org] which covers the same region as Gabala.[7][8][9][10] Russia offered to modernise the station and Azerbaijan wanted to increase the rent Russia paid,[11] from $7m to $300m according to one source.[12]

On December 2012 Russia announced that negotiations had been unsuccessful and that they had stopped using the radar station.[13][14] The station was given back to Azerbaijan[15] and all the equipment dismantled and transported to Russia.[16]

alert

- May 2011, Azerbaijan signed a protocol of intent with the Turkish Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation [MKEK]

- BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS IN AZERBAIJAN
[link to www.noravank.am]
In September 2005 the American “Chicago Tribune” published article “U.S. gets pathogens from ex-Soviet republic” by Jeff Zeleny. “BAKU, Azerbaijan — More than 60 dangerous and deadly bacterial strains that are a legacy of the former Soviet Union's elaborate biological weapons program were transferred Friday to the United States from Azerbaijan as part of the two countries' joint fight against the threat of biological terrorism. Copies of the strains, including bacteria that cause plague and anthrax, left Baku aboard a U.S. military aircraft in a mission cloaked in secrecy. The pathogens were scheduled to arrive at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware by Saturday, officials said, and government scientists will begin their analysis next week in Washington” [...]
Within the framework of that cooperation the US will support Azerbaijan in improving security of the Central Laboratory of Infections. Alongside, the Azerbaijani specialists will be given an opportunity to undergo a study course in the United States.

A serious question concerning the issue of Azerbaijan’s possession of biological weapons is asked in the publication of the International Social and Ecological Union9: “Independent Azerbaijan in principle cannot have biological weapons. But for one “but” – the partition of the USSR property, including military property, between Russia and Azerbaijan took place in troublesome times. And transferring of 124 strains to the US, in fact, might mean betraying Russian military-biological secrets… Isn’t this an example of behind-the-scene political trade?”
According to anther publication10 of 2005 “the strains from Azerbaijan, along with the agreement reached late last year with the government of nearby Georgia, allows U.S. scientists to learn more about the Soviet-era biological weapons program”.

Anyway, the fact that today Azerbaijan has at its disposal strains of at least 62 deadly pathogens is unchallengeable. Now, let us try to understand people who say that Azerbaijan possesses microorganisms, which are the basis of the biological weapons, but it does not have the biological weapons. The logic, most probably, is the following: biological weapons are spread by means of missiles with special war heads, artillery shells and air bombs and they have not been found in Azerbaijan, and correspondingly, Azerbaijan does not possess biological weapons. But the adherents of such a classical approach to the means used in armed conflicts leave out the fact that the usage of the biological weapons is not restricted to the aforementioned means. There are also other means such as envelopes, parcels, containers with causative agents, releasing infected insects from the planes, sabotage, etc. Let us bring some example presented on the web: “In some cases the enemy may leave infected everyday objects, such as cloths, food, cigarettes, etc. with a purpose to spread the disease. In this case people may get infected after direct contact with these objects. It is also possible to deliberately leave infected people during the retreat so that they would turn into a source of infection for the army and population

But now according to the GODON DUFF-article there could be missiles and hulls being transported to and from Azerbaijan which could carry pathogens !!!!

GEORGIA & US
Bulgarian News Network (BNN) website informs that causative agents of cholera and their identification methods are researched by the US (U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, USAMRIID, Fort Detrik) and Georgian (Tbilisi bacterium carrier, microbiology and virology Institute) microbiologists and virologists: U.S. and Georgian scientists' cooperation gives an opportunity not only for investigation of certain strains, but also creates conditions for developing of genetic transformation methods for the most pathogenic bacterias for their later use as a biological weapon... It is notable that within the framework of the joint research discussion Georgian side's general partner is USAMRIID - an institution, which particularly studies the possibilities of using microorganisms as biological weapons...

Turkey
Taking into account current situation of military and political fusion of Azerbaijan and Turkey, military capabilities of these countries just can not be separated from each other in the discussion of the military issues concerning Armenia (i.e. the Republic of Armenia and Republic of Artsakh).
Others appeared to originate from what were believed to be abandoned air fields in Azerbaijan, facilities identified in 2012 by defectors from the Azerbaijani military, as Israeli bases to be used in an attack on Iran.

Great read K, your summary!! rose

Just saw this...

Thread: I laugh in the face of Ebola, the real threat is Methane leaking out of the Arctic.

Here is the deal. Methane release is going ballistic. If global temps rise 2c because of this it will be global mass pandaemonium. If it raises global temps 6c then that's it, humanity will not survive at all. So how much is the leaking projected to raise global temps? 18c

The time frame is less than 15yrs because it accelerates exponentially the more it's released.

In closing, consider yourself lucky if Ebola gets you this year.

"In the Christian religion, in contrast, it’s actually customary to take, in what we know of as the Mass, which takes us through a ritual of pretending to be drinking blood. We drink blood from a chalice. Why a chalice??? This is "Grail Lore" coming into play. This is the old cup of the Jew, the "Holy Waters". Jews can’t and will not eat blood, if they’re observing the faith.

The Christians pretend to, the blood, the messianic line, this is my blood, the blood of Jesus, the drinking of the wine. So, could it be, one wonders, that this Christian tradition was actually more right than the Jewish tradition in terms of old law. Maybe, the Christian tradition of pretending to drink blood is a throw back, a real throw back, to some really ancient custom. Before the days of Noah. Could that be?

Well, as it turns out it is. It is exactly that. The other interesting thing, is that we discover that every time, what we might think of as blood drinking or blood eating as referred to in the early days, in the deity stories, the sign that always gets presented to us is the red cross in the circle. Now, crosses in circles mean a lot of things.

But, red crosses in circles were always tied up with this particular ritual, the "Cup of the Water", the "Rosicrucians". However, it’s always a cup, it’s always a chalice that’s involved. And from Bloodline of the Holy Grail, what we learnt through our investigations, was that the "Chalice" was the ultimate, ultimate, symbol of the female.

One can go back 3000, 4000 BC, and find the female symbol is a cup or a "Chalice". In it’s simplest form, it is simply a red circle with a red cross in it. Could it be, that this blood that we’re talking about, that caused suddenly such a problem?

That is linked to the fact that Kingship is only obtainable, through the gene of the female, had something to do with menstrual blood? Is this the important factor here? Well, that’s a bit hard to take when you think about it first off. But, the more you look, the more you find,. And you only have to look at the "Dragon Court" records, from 2200BC, and you find yes, this is exactly what we’re looking at.

We’re looking at early stages of bodily supplements, we’re looking at stages before the drug companies came in. We’re looking at times before alchemy. We’re simply looking at things that could be done with natural products. We begin to find an old ritual in Egypt, in Canaan, in Babylon, in Mesopotamia, & Sumer. The same ritual. It’s called the "Ritual of the Star Fire". Star Fire is the ritual, which we’re told began with Enki’s sister Ninkhursag. Ninkhursag was the "Lady of the Embryo", was the "Lady of Life""....

The Red tide bloom is expected to wash ashore striking the mainland in around two weeks.
Red tide is produced by Karenia brevis, which grows because of an excessive amount of Lyngbya which is a form of cyanobacteria, which is what produced the microcystin toxin that shut down Toledo’s water and is currently plaguing Lake Erie and many other waterways in the world.

[read more in link]

To me this is linked to the bacteria and organisms that Venter has made and the whole oil-bizznizz is using.

Trying to find a proof I stumbled on this VERY IMPORTANT article about CRAIG VENTER and CYANOBACTERIA.

US scientist Craig Venter aims to make living copies of Martian life
[link to www.scmp.com]

molecular biologist and entrepreneur Craig Venter is field-testing a technology he says will revolutionise the search for extraterrestrial life.

Not only does Venter say his invention will detect and decode
DNA hiding in otherworldly soil or water samples - proving once and for all that we are not alone in the universe - it will also beam the information back to earth and allow scientists to reconstruct living copies in a biosafety facility.

[...] Such was the case when a team from Nasa and the nonprofit J. Craig Venter Institute in San Diego and Rockville, Maryland, trudged through the desert last weekend, flipping over rocks in search of a bacteria with "super powers", as Ames planetary scientist Chris McKay put it.
Highly resistant to radiation and extreme temperatures, the
cyanobacteria called Chroococcidiopsis is a green crud that covers the bottom of translucent quartz rocks. Among other attributes, it refuses to die when deprived of air and water.

Hear hear ... Cyanobacteria and Craig Venter and John Kerry

As Algae Bloom Fades, Photosynthesis Hopes Still Shine
[link to www.nytimes.com]

But before the green tide completely turns red, several groups of scientists and a few controversial startups are calling for what they say amounts to a shift in focus. By fixating, they say, on what was bleeding-edge technology in the 1970s -- tortured, plump microalgae -- many have missed what could prove the most promising path to algae fuels: photosynthetic bacteria.

That's the pitch of Joule Unlimited, one of the most-watched biofuel companies to emerge in recent years. Backed by a group of high-profile biologists -- including Boston University's James Collins and Harvard's George Church -- Joule has raised a racket with its grandiose claims.

Using
heavily engineered photosynthetic bugs called cyanobacteria, Joule promises to produce hundreds of barrels of fungible diesel fuel per acre a year at the cost of $50 a barrel, a productivity that would outstrip nearly any other biofuel, including corn ethanol.

Joule is not alone in its cyanobacteria work. Synthetic Genomics, the bioengineering firm begun by
Craig Venter, the enterprising biologist famous for being one of the first to sequence the human genome, is also investigating the bugs in its $300 million algae collaboration with Exxon Mobil Corp. Flush with cash, the company operates in relative silence.

Government-funded scientists are pushing the limits of using the bacteria as mini-factories.

[...] Despite similarities, microalgae and cyanobacteria belong to different domains of life.

Microalgae have an intricate cell machinery, wrapping most of their DNA in a tightly bound nucleus; cyanobacteria hold their DNA in easily accessible, circular chromosomes. Zoomed in, they have starkly different sizes, algae running 1,000 times cyanobacteria's volume. And, most importantly to biofuel dreamers, microalgae naturally store oily fats in their cells; cyanobacteria do not.

During World War II, German scientists first attempted to produce oil from the microbes, discovering that green algae, when deprived of nutrients, devoted more than two-thirds of their weight to oils. The oil built up slowly, though, and the algae, investing their energy in survival, grew at a tepid rate -- a problem to this day.

[...] Meanwhile, out of DOE's sight, academic scientists were busy discovering that many varieties of cyanobacteria could easily integrate foreign DNA, much like E. coli, another industrial workhorse.

Cyanobacteria, they realized, are ideal fuel candidates, said Wim Vermaas, a microbiologist at Arizona State University who recently received a grant to develop fuel-producing cyanobacteria from DOE's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

[...]
Serious research needs to be done before costs can come down further -- for example, researchers at Los Alamos National Lab are working on that combine, exploring the use of
high-frequency sound waves to extract algae oil.

Red tide all over the world ...
cyanobacteria ...

Cyanobacteria are unicellular or filamentous organisms that, like other bacteria, lack membranes around their internal cellular structures. Their popular (although scientifically inaccurate) name, blue green algae, refers to the green (chlorophyll) and blue (phycocyanin) pigments in their cells, although some species contain the red pigment phycoerythrin. Unlike algae, cyanobacteria can use nitrogen from the atmosphere, permitting them to thrive in nitrogen-limited waters.

Massive red tide moving through Gulf of Mexico
[link to www.myfoxtampabay.com]
FWC said it's getting reports of dead marine life of all sizes: snapper, grouper, flounder, crabs, bull sharks, lionfish, eel, sea snakes, lizardfish and octopus are among the species that have turned up dead.
Red tide hit the Gulf Coast hard in 2005 and 2012, as thousands of dead fish and other marine life washed ashore.
Doug Hemmer, Captain of Dreamfish Charters in Pinellas, said many of the areas affected by previous red tides haven't yet fully recovered.

"I'll tell you, there's two spots out there that were the honey holes, that don't have a fish," he said, adding he's worried about the current bloom. "That's too close for comfort if it's heading south because we still got plenty of warm weather coming up."

Hemmer said the red tide will also impact Gulf-based businesses like his.

"It'll wipe the guides out up there. It will. It's just, no one wants to eat fish caught in red tide if you can catch any and their best areas are going to get decimated," he said, adding many of those businesses are still struggling. "The BP oil spill, the hard freeze, the red tide, the bad economy, the real estate market, we're all hurting as it is and if you just throw some red tide on me, man, I'm going to be washing cars for a living."

Remenber we we posted abou the magnetic anomaly from the North Pole to South America ?

well we have found an other sort-of-kinda-thing :

8/10/2014 — Earthquake in Chile causes movement in Antarctica 2,000 miles away

Antarctica’s ice snapped and popped because of a major earthquake in Maule, Chile, halfway around the world, a new study reports.

Antarctica has been touched by great earthquakes before. In March 2011, Japan’s Tohoku tsunami tore off two Manhattan-size icebergs from the Sulzberger Ice Shelf, more than 8,000 miles (13,000 kilometers) south. Sailors also reported a massive Antarctica iceberg-calving event after Chile’s 1868 great earthquake.

But this is the first evidence that distant earthquakes can trigger icequakes in Antarctica. Icequakes are seismic tremblings caused by sudden movement within a glacier or ice sheet, such as from a fracturing crevasse. (Anyone who has dropped an ice cube into a glass of water knows ice snaps under stress.)
