I admit, I have NOT read all 187 pages, so forgive me if
this has been posted already.

When I saw this:

Russia again calls for US to nuke leaking Gulf oil well

[link to www.eutimes.net]

I thought of this thread and wondered if the Russian felt
if the U.S. wasn't going to do it, they would.

Just sayin...

"a Whale" would be extremely successful PROVIDED that BP STOP using Corexit. The oil would come to the surface and be skimmed.

So... why would the whale want to be in the gulf, knowing that the oil has been compromised by corexit?

I don't know, they are probably used to cleaning up other oil spills that were not totally diluted with Corexit. Read!

When the oil comes to the surface "the Whale" can vacuum it up. This is what has been done in other large spills around the world with smaller skimmers.

THE only difference here is the use of Corexit, that forces heavy oil to the sea bottom leaving only dispersed,
(foamy, sheeny) oil to hit the beaches, along with tar balls.

Other Countries have banned Corexit. Go figure.

Seems like some reports have indicated a decreasing number of ships in the GOM. Perhaps as the methane continues to saturate the water, bouyancy problems make it dangerous for any ships to stay afloat. I wonder if ships and the platforms might be having less and less draft.

What because someone else quotes me, it's some kind of "Matrix"?

Corexit it making the entire "GULF SPILL" that much more unmanagable. It's forcing the heavy oil (the stuff no one wants to see). to the sea bed and allowing only soap sudsy remnants of oil to appear along the coasts with tar balls.

I seem to remember originally the issue was that the French commander was upset because they (actually he didn't say bhawks, but just helico's) were merely flying US flag but carried no credentials.

Nope, those were the small, fast boats that tried to board and retrieve the 'cargo.'

He DID talk about helicopter though ... will look it up

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
Info for thread readers because I don't recall that the names of nations offering assistance has been posted. This is old and there may be additions to the list to date:

"U.S. not accepting foreign help on oil spill
Posted By Josh Rogin Thursday, May 6, 2010

.......

Then they mentioned Iran's offer of assistance, through its National Iranian Drilling Company. Crowley said there was no Iranian offer of assistance, at least in any official capacity. The reporters kept on it, asking why it was taking so long to figure out what was needed in the first place? That's the Coast Guard's decision, Crowley explained.

Late Wednesday evening, the State Department emailed reporters identifying the 13 entities that had offered the U.S. oil spill assistance. They were the governments of Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations."
