Woke up for a drink of water. Checking in.

Bevvy-

I remember my brothers and Father talking at length about a Submarine in the desert (or somewhere out west). It is basically a working submarine That had a operating nuclear reactor and power plant in it. It is used for training the technitians and officers as part of their training. Both brothers went there, and my father had to do something with the turbine systems there.

Whether it was underwater, above ground, or buried, I do not know. I would bet it is in a hardened bunker like affair with a lot above ground too. Security would be always very very tight.

That was many, many years ago, but I see no reason that they would not keep it up to date and still use it for final training.

Renegade may be able to tell you something more, if he was reactor trained for fire control tech or machinist mate, nuclear, or an officer. But he may not be able to tell much, as they are ordered to forget everything they learned about anthing sensitive in the Navy. That order carries for LIFE. You would also be suprised what they can tell a civilian to never say, under threat of national security. It sucks.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Be monitoring for about 10 more minutes...
 Quoting: Housedad

Hmmm... never heard of this sub in the desert. The ssbn that I was on is now decommissioned and is classified as 'MTS' (moored training ship) for nuclear training and is in Charleston SC. I was not a 'nuke' (reactor trained) but was qualified in all areas, as was everyone else. I was a navigational electronic technician (NAVET)

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
Important re-post regarding the Ruskies and their search for "new species of flora and fauna" ...
I seems to me a bit odd that coïncedently vessels are NOT availeble ...hmmmz ... ;)

The Russian Mir submersibles are unlikely to be able to help BP tackle the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a spokesperson for the Fund for the Protection of Lake Baikal said on Monday.

Izvestia daily reported on Monday that BP's management had asked Anatoly Sagalevich of Russia's Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, which owns the mini-submarines, for assistance in eliminating the oil spill's consequences in the Gulf of Mexico.

The fund official said the Mirs had a busy schedule and the equipment for the Baikal expedition had already been sent to the east Siberian city of Irkutsk. The technical staff will soon head to the Irkutsk Region.

"So, the Mir submersibles are unlikely to take part in the elimination of the oil spill's consequences in the Gulf of Mexico," the spokesperson said.

The Gulf of Mexico oil leak started more than six weeks ago following an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform that killed 11 rig workers. An estimated 12,000-19,000 barrels gush up daily from the seabed, posing a major threat to the gulf's flora and fauna.

BP, the owner of the rig about 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the Louisiana coast, has tried with little success to stem the flow of oil. It says it is now managing to gather about 10,000 barrels of oil a day using a special plugging device attached to the head of the drill to siphon oil up to surface ships.

Sagalevich told the Izvestia daily the Mir mini-subs could stop the leakage, but it would take some time.

The expedition to Lake Baikal started in 2008. In 2009, the researchers sought new species of flora and fauna, along with the deepwater gas deposits.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made a four-hour dive to the bottom of Lake Baikal in the Mir-1 mini-submarine in August last year.

The Baikal fund's spokesperson said there also could be difficulties with the support vessels necessary for the Mir mini-subs since "the main support vessel for the Mirs, Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, is now being repaired in Germany."

The spokesperson added that the Russian government's permission would be needed for the Mirs to take part in tackling the oil spill.

HOLLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE RUSSIANS HAVE RUSTY GOLD
WTF

"Sterligoff concludes: "It should be noted that the weight and density of the rusty coins coincide with the characteristics of gold that would be expected after after conventional testing methods would reveal."

more here:
[link to www.zerohedge.com]

thats how the russians have 80% of the remedy

because they are already producing algae farmed Au179

More than likely, the coins have been debased by the mint. They say 999% pure, and that is the government mint on them, but the government obviously alloyed it with another metal, making it probably 18 karat or less. It is the other metal that is corroding. Gold does not corrode buried under a oak tree. The debasing metal did.
 Quoting: Housedad

yes that might be so, but you dismissed the fact that "the weight and density of the rusty coins coincide with the characteristics of gold"

if a debasing agent was used to create the alloy then the density and weight would not be the same as a 999 proof metal

the gold platted tungsten 400oz bars that were discovered lately, were proved to be counterfeit after density and core tests

there is more to this story than meets the eye

Yes, it seems as though they are purposely turning transponder off and on, one can only wonder why
 Quoting: RenegadeSon

According to the following information, a ship's transponder must operate continuously, except when safety or security is an issue:

Should continual operation of AIS compromise the safety or security of the vessel or where a security incident is imminent, the AIS may be switched off. This action and the reason for taking it must be reported to the nearest U.S. Captain of the Port or Vessel Traffic Center and recorded in the ship's logbook. The AIS should return to continuous operation as soon as the source of danger has been mitigated.

Above information is from:
[link to www.navcen.uscg.gov]

So, it appears that either these rules/regulations are not being followed, or that safety/security is an issue.

That we are seeing ships' transponders being turned on and off rather indiscriminately sure gives us reason to wonder why.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
the James bond film referred to in the article about underwater caverns off the US coast might be "Thunderball", that was filmed largely around the Bahamas and Florida and the story line was about a British nuclear missile being stolen from a Vulcan bomber and hidden in an underwater cavern. That was a film made in the 1960's when the UK'S nuclear deterrent was carried by RAF bombers, for the last 40 years the UK nuclear deterrent has been carried by Royal Navy submarines. Thunderball is apparently US Army slang for the mushroom cloud created by a nuclear explosion.

When A Whale was brought to the GOM, we had chat about its true purpose since skimming oil did not appear practical, in part because the Corexit was holding the major part of the spill underwater and unavailable for skimming.

Part of the discussion was whether A Whale was to be sunk. Whacha think?

A Whale was moving in a tight circle and then I checked back and it was off the map. There is no way it could have moved far enough that I could not have found it. Was there at 1:30 AM and gone at 4:00AM (GLP time) 2.5 hours at 12 Knots= 30 NM. It would have to still be somewhere in the gulf in that time frame, unless it submerged. :D

I see you guys use words that sound cute .. like lurking.
In holland we say also "lurken" but it means sucking (on a straw to drink) and some other meanings.
For me it sounds like a little grey elephant that is lurking with his nose in a pond ... hahaha

So please excuse me if "lurking" is used as a sarcistic word in your language ... sorry
