That is why I left academia in disgust. However, even though the electrical model as presented by the conference (they really only rehashed and expanded upon earlier work but in a good way) is a intriguing and elegant model, it does not explain everything. As it stands now, it has it's own holes to plug. Gravity is not explained. Strong vs weak nuclear forces are not explained adeuately. They are very close to explaining the particle/wave nature of the photon (or photon nature itself), but they have not matured the theory yet. The nature of magnetism. Time dialation. These are just a few of the problems. Not that they could not explain them, but it will take a lot of theorizing and experimenting to acertain the probabilities. To be fair, remember that this is a very old theory, but still a very new resurection of it. So there has been realatively little research and experimentation to prove the theories. Only time and money can do that. Hopefully, even given the huge lumbering beurocracy that is the world of physics, somewhere someone will ignore the dogma of science and allow this to be persued properly. Thank you, Pops, for the astute analysis. My interest in physics is late blooming but enthusiastic. Since I have a very slow net connection (see Australian Governemnt's hi-tech skills! [oh, and Mr Abbott's smoke signals and wet string])..... Anyway, a couple of thoughts and comments..... A few years ago, ABC TV (Australia) had an article on a researcher in Perth, W.A., who had been given some core samples from (I think) some North Rankin holes. On looking at these rock samples under an electron microscope, she saw what looked like organic signs. On extracting the 'bugs', it was found there were several types, and they had 4 distinct states, from well sub-virus in size up to large bacterial, and they could morph between these states. I think the researcher was at Curtin University..... As for the nuke option, maybe we should remember Michael Crighton's 'Andromeda Strain', a bug that thrived on nuke and heat - the only way to control it was to cut off all energy to it..... I have also had a few friends in various sources, including the armed forces, and some of the tales they have told me indicate that the various published 'facts' are not always correct, * like most subs and ships able to go much faster than listed, * like an OZ sub almost sunk whilst in a river to our north (sank soon after), * crayfish shell 4" (100mm) thick from a deep sea sample, * echo sounder going off the scale at 40,000 foot depth, * water from an artesian bore in outback New SOuth Wales had leaves in it from a tree in a remote valley in New Guinea that were 500 years old, and many more..... keep the interest going...... . |
