Did you know Lady Bugs sting and some people are allergic to there venom.

Stranded sub towed off sandbank!I imagine there are some red faces as this was a technically advanced piece of equipment!!!All they were doing was letting crew off and they must have been asleep at the wheel !In the meantime the TIDE WENT OUT!

Towed? Pitiful! Those sailors need to learn the old time art of kedging. They have a conning tower, and could have pulled themselves off the sandbank. Young kids today - I tell ya!

kedging - 1 - To kedge off. A method of pulling a boat out of shallow water when it has run aground. A dinghy is used to set an anchor, then the boat is pulled toward the anchor.

Brittania rules the waves. Not the sandbars.

 Quoting: TutuWuwu

this would work for a keel boat, where tilting the boat over allows the keel to go side ways and the boat to float on her side with alot shallower draft.
But if sub hull is round or as i suspect ,wider than she is deep, then tilting her has no advantage or makes things worse.
last year i hit a sandbank on an out going tide in my 36' cat. nothing i could do till the tide came in again lol.So im certainly not gunna laugh at these guys misfortune.(too much anyway).lol

I was laughing at the bold part, option8. After I read the account, I realized that a kedge wouldn't have worked anyway, with the stern in the mud. Tide tables good, yes.

I base this on the premise that we never actually landed men on the moon. Which is my personal belief.

This is a pretty big tangent, but might pull back in....

What was discovered or transmitted in the 50's that made it so vitally important to have a man standing on the moon by the end of the 60's? (dont say cold war, as that in itself was a cover) Something that needed a massive cover up? I dont know. But the moon program sure did keep people focussed.

US and Ruskies worked out that they could not physically do it, but worked out how to fake it. US won the fakey contest, and the rest is history.

US and Ruskies went there with probes etc. Ruskies landed a remote rover. Long cold war, lots of money spent, all eyes looking at nuclear build ups etc.

Only (this will shit me if I'm wrong/corrected!!! lol) four countries have visited the moon, using probes etc.

US, Russia and now -

China and Japan.

Could there be a little black mailing going on here? The two new kids on the block couldnt find any sign of US or Russian presence? (if our sattelites can pick up a phone number on an iPhone, through an atmosphere, surely tha HD Japanese sattelite could see a laning site(s) and more)

Could there be a tie in here to the China/Japan thing?

Its a pretty wild hypothesis, but wadayareckon?

Let's use a little common sense here BHD. If you had sent remote probes and other things to check on some faraway place, and you saw that this area you wanted to go to was already occupied by by something very big, and very scary, would you work to overcome all the problems of the (probably impossible) job of getting people up there only to have to face them or would you be a sensible person and just fake it? The choice is yours.
