Since submarines are the original stealth platforms, they are natural platforms for bringing signals intelligence SIGINT antennas close to targets. When no more than a mast breaks the surface, they immediately become radar targets, so virtually all modern submarines will have the minimum ELINT of a radar warning receiver. Far beyond that, however, many submarines will penetrate hostile areas, raise SIGINT receiver masts, usually with some type of radar-observant covering, and listen. Especially sophisticated SIGINT submarines may tap undersea cables.

The minimum radar-warning receiver is usually a set of spiral antennas, backed with resonant cavities, whose amplitude can be compared to determine the direction of greatest signal strength. To go to the next level of sophistication, phase is considered as well as amplitude, and interferometry adds further information.[1]. He reports that the ArgoSystems/Condor AR-740 was installed on submarines of Australia, Chile, Egypt, Greece, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Maybe. I don't know for sure. New designations come up but the public will not know about them for a while

It may be coincidental that condor is the manufaturer of the electronics and the vessel is namend condor class or something

On other boards, there has been much conversation as to why it could not be the USN or USAF - mainly because of the close proximity to LA... and the absolute silence regarding a planned launch into a heavily-trafficked civilian air space. We would never risk a misfire that could easily land on LA. They also say that it could not be an accidental US launch, as a missile launch of that size requires the coordinated actions of a team, not just an accidental button push.

It seems more like a warning shot - this time we sent our missile west, into the sea. Next time, from your doorstep, we may send it east, into population centers.

Those were my words, I was not quoting anyone. It's all over the online news. Not US Navy, not Vandenberg AFB, Pentagon doesn't know, nor FAA.

here's one of a bunch of links:

There are also four new large trails in the sky as of about 15 mins ago. Two are arching and go land to sea, and two are over land and criss cross each other's path.

I do not know what they are, and am not knowledgeable enough to speculate. I can only say they are there. Another poster on Mystery Missile saw one as well. They are getting smaller...but you can see one on this live cam.

It's just occured to me, some folks will probably say it's the chinese exercising their control over the electronics of other nations. Waiting for the first to suggest such a scenario...

Did ya happen to notice the Chinook helicopter in the vid? That tells a huge story about it right there.

On top of that, the ambassador was saying it was a message to china. I bet that was scripted well in advance.

Yep, spotted the chopper, couldn't identify the specific type though, infact some on the missile thread suggest that it's a .........you guessed.... UFO. Looks like a chopper to me.

Living at the base of Cheyenne Mountain, the sight of Chinooks are common. But, surprisingly, not during the last few weeks. Yesterday and today have made up for that, and they are flying in pairs. Wish I could track them.

This thread is HARD to keep up with... so I apologize if this next reference is a duplicate.

Nov 1 Mystery of ‘Alien Pod’ Solved: Colony of Freshwater
Bryozoans
'The final consensus was that the organism is Pectinatella magnifica -- the "magnificient bryozoan."
That identification is itself somewhat surprising, as the vast majority of bryozoans -- thousands of species -- live in salt water. Marine bryozoans are common but inconspicuous filter feeders that grow in thin, encrusting colonies atop rocks, kelp blades, shellfish, and other hard objects. When the individual animals extend their tentatcles to feed, the colony takes on a fuzzy appearance, hence the bryozoans' common name of "moss animal." One study even showed that young colonies of P. magnifica can actually move on their own by coordinated pulsing of the individual animals. Although individual bryozoans are built on a simple plan -- a U-shaped gut inside a bag-like body with no lungs or gills, and no circulatory or excretory system -- they are true survivors, with a fossil record that dates back some 500 million years.'

They came up with that explanation pretty quickly. Odd that the explanation was released on Nov 1 and the sighting info was released November 2.

I guess no one listened to anything I said way back at the beginning. I'm a submariner...I've served on both submarine platforms. This was an ICBM. ICBM's are fucking absolutetly 1000% impossible to accidently launch. Anyone that says that, either doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about, or they are a shill. ICBM's can maintain orbit for days...and as someone else mentioned its not just one nuclear warhead per missile. SSBN's can carry up to 24 missiles as well. And btw, there is a SSN submarine base located in San Diego that could track that fucker and blow it out of the water in less than 48 hours probably, if they hadn't already deployed the Anti-Sub planes.
