Well I'm a Texan, I live in the Gulf of Mexico, and this area is run on BP power. I'll tell you one thing for sure, people around this area are in some type of lunacy. They are oblivious to what is going on around them, and as for the "rising of the south"??? People around here are going in circles. The one's that do pay attention, don't know which thing is more important to pay attention to, and the rest, they'll believe anything they see on CNN. Anderson Cooper doesn't lie they say. Well, I live here. It's like being on a merry-go-round at the carnival, one of the electric one's that move so fast you're pinned to the side, and it feels like any second, you're going to be let go and splatter.

Very good post Jen. I am also from the Gulf Coast(MS). People same here, either they are in denial or there looking for ways to make a free buck off of BP. I know lots of people trying to file false records for fishing, rentals you name it, trying to to take advantage of the situation...disgrace.



I'm tellin ya! It's like, HELLO!!!! IS ANYONE IN THERE YOU IDIOT! Money's not going to be worth anything. When we have to pick up our SICK children and drag them from their homes to countless roadblocks routing us anywhere but to our families in the North, contamination issues... come on. Do we need to watch Silkwood again for a mild adaptation of WTF we could be dealing with here? Just a Q Miss. Are you sick? Have you been sick? I got pneumonia in end of April. Very very bad. O2sat at 80percent. Since my kids got out of school, away from any usual sources of germs and sickness, colds, etc... they are sick. Coughing all the time. Throwing up last week. Dr's say it's a virus going around, nothing to give for it. Then when you look up the dispersents and the things they cause, they match, exactly. Just wondering, hard to compare to my area, because "there's a virus going around here"... just wondering if there is a virus going around the gulf??? Very worried.

Jen, i actually went swimming in the Gulf off of Biloxi about 3 weeks ago. The oil hadn't hit this are yet so i figured i'd take my last swim in the Gulf. It was actually clearer and warmer than i had ever seen it. The next day i had the worst soar throat and cough that lasted about a week. I feel better now, but i have been up in ATL since then. I am in the process of getting my parents out of there now.
