We can assume the "cut cable" pertains to all this. One thing I learned when I would assist or instruct IT on cable runs, was this, Don't just one one, run doubles, then if one fails you have a redundant one to fall back on.
What if....the one that was cut, was the redundant cable? Leaving only one (the active one), easily severed at the right time? No loss of web, YET. On May 5th, all the DNS servers were updated and synched. This has always bothered me, this included the ten or eleven in the U.S. and the few in China. What if ( adjust tin foil) this was to get all servers under ONE control?
Some will say, the loss of all the DNS servers would be bad, but not the end, but for 99.8% of people, it would be. Very few know this, but I have been paying special attention to Google the last two years.
Google has been busy.
They have tied Great Britain and the U.S. together with independent solid fiber optic cables (.gov mainly), including laying new oceanic cable.
Secondly, they has assisted in the development of an independent network ( fiber optic) for scientists and .gov.
So, in essence, if the internet (which they despise) is cut, they won't feel the loss.
Very few know these facts, and I wanted to throw this out..

I personally think that the OP's lack of participation is what makes this thread unique and interesting. Even if this is storytelling, it is fun and has brought a lot of relevant information to light.

Sometimes, and seemingly counterintuitively, a 'fictional' narrative is the best way to disseminate the truth.

The BOA deep sea has pictures of a LONG cylinderThe top as seen on ROV 2 is yellow and round freshly painted and has guages,pipes connectors etc and a Logo that looks like a crop circle on it!It is called an INTERHULL???.......The sides are grey and have a long rule on them with markers going to 55 60 etc!It is at depth 1519?????It is shown on ROV 1 or was- now there is a swirling mass of ???mud oil who knows which is partially lit!Whatever is going on with the picture now gives me the feeling of total loss of control!!!!!!
