Here is a thought that I had. Let's say that the microbe is of the type that concentrates gold and reproduces by budding as stated by someone earlier in the tread.

It coats itself with gold and then pushes out a bud that forms a new organism, leaving the original to die in its own gold coffin.


So, why only gold? What if this bugger is doing it to gold and Uranium?

Definatly something that you would want to jettison if it is leaking hard radiation and/or a deadly bacterium.

I can see that the crew would find that important enough to get back to France. I can see why the US Navy would attack a freindly power over it too.

There's a product called Protocel that will kill it - pretty swiftly, although it has a bitch of a dosing regimen.

The other thought would be about the device that the French have on board. What would that be?

It could be a test unit (robot) that is in a different oil volcano (or the original wll BP had supposedly sealed off) and it's sole purpose is to filter and concentrate the radioactive material (Gold colored Uranium)for further testing on shore. That means it would have a proximity alarm so that if it is move, it would alert the Navy. Since it would not necessarily have decent shielding, (as the retrieval vessel would have containment boxes for it) It would be disasterous if brought on board a sub or even strapped to the hull. Like the port side where they say is all the trouble is coming from. The hull would protect the some, but woe to any unfortunate that was in the compartments inside the hull next to where they strapped it to on the outside.

And by WHOSE authority were they able to remove you.

I don't know how that would happen...he's taking retirement, I think....if O didn't trust him in Afghanistan, I can't imagine him being in a position of power again..?? Of course, what would be the time frame for him taking over NCom? would we know?
