Abstract Pseudomonas MGF-48, a gram-negative, motile, oxidase-negative, catalase-positive, yellow-pigmented bacterium isolated from electroplating effluent, was found to accumulate uranium with high efficiency. Uptake of uranium was rapid and the amount increased in direct proportion to concentration, e.g., from 50 to 200 mg uranium per liter. The largest amount of uranium uptake was 174 mg per gram dry weight bacterial biomass and was observed to occur in stationary phase during incubation at 30 °C. Uptake was determined by flow injection analysis. Maximum uranium accumulation occurred at pH 6.5, with 86% of the uranium being taken up within 5 min of incubation. Release of uranium bound to the cells was accomplished by addition of sodium carbonate and EDTA solution (0.1 M), the cells were reusable, and served as a biosorbent. Cells immobilized in polyacrylamide gel took up 90% of the uranium. Pseudomonas MGF-48 showed excellent efficiency in biosorbing uranium, by both immobilized and free cells. The results of this study, compared with those of other reports of uranium accumulation by microorganisms, leads us to conclude that Pseudomonas MGF-48 shows excellent potential for bioremediating uranium-polluted aqueous effluents.

My brain is like limp spaghetti. It seems like Krispy et al have arrived at a conclusion, which I kinda, sorta understand but then again, not really.

Maybe someone put Corexit in my orange juice and my brain cells are dispersing, but I would love to read a succinct summary which would tell me - have they added something (nanotechnology, synthetic microbe, bacterium, ??? intended to convert algae to oil but which has instead run amuck and is causing mercury to precipitate out morphing ("alive") gold isotopes (radioactive?) and or uranium within Gulf waters now magnetized and de-oxygenated?

I know I have all the puzzle pieces but I'm still not quite seeing the picture on the box. That's what I get for avoiding all those science courses in college (although none would be relevant to today's world).

Interestingly, I had to take DH to the doctor today for WC injury. In the waiting room, Discover magazine had articles on alchemy and transforming lead into gold (which is apparently now possible with nuclear processes), along with a series of updates on nanotechnology.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a highly relevant opportunistic pathogen. One of the most worrying characteristics of P. aeruginosa is its low antibiotic susceptibility. Hypermutation favours the selection of mutation-driven antibiotic resistance in P. aeruginosa strains producing chronic infections, whereas the clustering of several different antibiotic resistance genes in integrons favours the concerted acquisition of antibiotic resistance determinants. Some recent studies have shown that phenotypic resistance associated to biofilm formation or to the emergence of small-colony-variants may be important in the response of P. aeruginosa populations to antibiotic treatment.[3]"

Those white stringy things are methane hydrates. Those are some nasty boogers too. They are naturally around deep sea vents and in some deeper oil wells.

HA! Yes, we are on the same page here, LOL!

I can't help but wonder if what we are witnessing is several things, the use of nanotechnology in the oil, an occurrence of volcanic activity (pay attention to this one), a proliferation of some type of bacteria, with remarkable properties, either as a side effect of all the treatments (or intentional) or straight out of the oil.

Some pages back, someone wanted to know why BP would be wanting oil with corexit, well, I didn't have time then, but they're actually pulling they're oil from the choke line, (reversed the flow) positioned at the base of the BOP, way before it gets treated by dispersant. So, they're getting pure oil, and flaring the gases.

Back in the article with the SHTF link, I drilled this last weekend thru that article and arrived at a site with definitions for nano technology, it even had a definition for the grey and the red goo (literally), with whether it was military use of nanotechnology(offensive) or benign. If they are frozen why do they change shape while remaining in the same worm like fashion while staying intact ? Just wondering?

I remember watching a show, some months back, where they were showing methane hydrates in cube form, a type of jelly, burning basically with water saturating it. They stated and I quote "this can be harvested right off the sea floor in slabs" So I assume it rather viscous.

just listened to a you tube about the water off NOrleans...up above someone posted that poly glycol is between 1%-5% of corexit...and right now, the water that was tested, p.glycol alone is at 430ppm....where 25ppm is considered toxic to fish...and that is just ONE of the ingredients in corexit...can you imagine just how toxic that water in the gulf is considering that the one ingredient is that much over and above toxic levels?...

I'll take a WILD guess at these uestions. Pure speculation.

1. A Whale is set up as a sedimetation tank of some sort to remove radioctive gold, Uranium and other metals out of the oceon water. The oil that is captured in the process is sent over to it's tender ship, A Elephant.

2. To emulsify the oil into a cloud so that the A whale could do it's job of metal removal effectively with either Special bioremediation bacteria or chelation, and maybe electromagnetic techniues, or both. It would be a bitch to do it with plain crude oil on the surface of the sea. This lets them get the metals out, and clean up the oil at the same time.

3. To keep folks from getting too close to this stuff and if there is a problem with POSSIBLE evacuations, and/or possible problems with foreign powers trying to get the materials.

The OP stated they Thought the cargo was a strange type of living Gold.
