This whole A WHALE thing just smells fishy.

First, Look at the so called skimming vents on the side of the thing.

They don't look like they could skim much. The amount it could skim would be small realatively to it's size, and the vents as small as they are, would have to be right on the water line to be useful. And they are positioned in a nearly useless place. With the boat moving up and down in the waves, and the boat changing drafts with different cargo levels, It just don't sound right.

Add in the lousy travel track of the boat, and it is all screwed up. I wonder if it really is a sub hunter with a really big sonar or magnemometer. I mean really big.

someone said the HMS Poseidon was raised by the Chinese...would they not change the name if they managed to make it run?...I guess if they wanted to sneak around, maybe not...but the A Whale is Taiwaneze...and OP said something about it being sunk, or stopped...but it was not approved for use, so why bother with it?

Want to know something really strange? Posiedon ordered a sacrifice or he would release the Kraken.

Has anyone seen the new Clash of the Titans? The weirdest thing was that when Zeuss ordered to "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!", the sea floor cracked and RED FLUID swirled around, which looks eerie now that we see red oil streaking the coast. And then the black Kraken causes massive tsunamis and bursts out of the ocean.

Oh, and I know it was probably not useful to the Chinese, but would it be to their advantage to try to get it seaworthy? I mean it's been nearly 40 years, that's 40 years of salvage and repair. But on that note, would modern radar be geared to detect a WWII class sub? I mean normal radar would ping it I guess. Just curious.

actually, i don't have any idea What to think, much less have a Conclusion. i mean really, what can we actually know for sure or do about Any of it?

i'm relatively certain there are eyes following this thread that may be in a position to do something though. there is another aspect to this as well... scientists are, by and large, isolated within their specific field of research. while each 'piece' of research may be benign in and of itself, combined with other pieces the applications can have staggering implications.

some of them read here... as proven by a poster early on in the thread. perhaps some of them may see connections previously missed or think in some new way and recognize answers or solutions that would have been overlooked otherwise. that is what a think tank is about and GLP can certainly qualify as that, imho.

Naw. ya got it wrong. Tthe Posieden that the chinese raised in 1971 was from the 1930's I only was showing that there was something to it. Old, but something. The Chinese probably salvaged it for technology. (they were pretty backwards then and technology was really low in their civilization.)

That may be whre the "guys in the gulf" got the rumor from.

Unless someone wanted to blame the English.
