Zoom in to about 7 bars from the top of the zoom scale on this map of A Whale to look at it's track. Seems to be boogying now. [link to marinetraffic.com]

Tex, please double check. I'm seeing a track for International Storm and not A Whale.

I'm on the road right now on my phone so I can't double check. Please zoom in enough to be sure you're not overlapping with another vessel. Unless there has been some funny business on that site, I'm POSITIVE I was tracking the whale because I did a vessel search for it and that's what came up. hf

OMEGA is now onboard Orca

Isn't the cargo on Orca?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1004158

I think Omega is the cargo.

Hey guys, I have been in withdrawels!!! My modem funked up and then I had to leave, get ready for Girl Scout trip tomorrow that I am helping with (CPR certified gets you roped into many kid oriented trips) and then have a double birthday party on Saturday (two kids with birthday a few days apart so we are combining the party) and I know it's going to be so hard to keep up. But I will do my best to pop in and hope and pray the doom isn't near. Hell, I'm almost ready to give someone my cell number to text me if something happens! LOL!

I guess if something happens big enough, I won't need the internet to tell me.

I wanted to post this link though. Scientists are saying the Gulf Stream is dying fast. All those around the world that are shrugging this off as Americans over reacting and acting like it's just a little oil on the beaches are going to realize how serious this is.

Thread: ALERT!!! GULF STREAM SHUTTING DOWN BECAUSE OF OIL SPILL!!! AND IT'S HAPPENING FAST!!

So, catching up now.

Yes correct, zooming closer there are two, A Whale and International Storm. For the latter part of the day's tracking shows the two running parallel. Appropriate name for an escort for A Whale.

Just in case we have forgotten.. OP's last post said...

alert level remains at midnight for strategic assets

and.. Good day, my girlfriend says a midNight level alert can be called any day now. (7/9 7:53AM)

The Doomsday Clock is set to six minutes till midnight..

The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clock face, maintained since 1947 by the board of directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. The closer the clock is to midnight, the closer the world is estimated to be to global disaster. As of January 14, 2010, the Doomsday Clock now stands at six minutes to midnight.[1][2] Since its creation, the time on the clock has changed 19 times.[3]
Originally, the analogy represented the threat of global nuclear war, but since 2007 it has also reflected climate-changing technologies and "new developments in the life sciences and nanotechnology that could inflict irrevocable harm."[4]

Regarding the gulf stream:

[link to www.associazionegeofisica.it]

As of today the situation has deteriorated up to the point in which the eddy has detached itself completely from the main stream therefore destroying completely the Loop Current, dated June 12th 2010.

Since comparative analysis with past satellite data until may 2010 didn’t show relevant anomalies, it might be therefore plausible to correlate the breaking of
the Loop Current with the biochemical and physical action of the BP Oil Spill on the Gulf Stream.
It is reasonable to foresee the threat that the breaking of a crucial warm stream as the Loop Current may generate a chain reaction of unpredictable critical phenomena and instabilities due to strong non linearities which may
have serious consequences on the dynamics of the Gulf Stream thermoregulation activity of the Global Climate.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1023981

Backwards I get QHMEETL

Just some ideas to throw out there...

Queen's Harbour Master (UK)

EETL Extended Estimated Tour Length (US Air Force)

MISSION-ESSENTIAL TASK LIST (METL) DEVELOPMENT
METL development is an essential part of the entire Lane Training package. According to AR 350-41, gaining commands will contact new WARTRACE units within 60 days of notification. We all know, in reality, this very seldom happens. What normally happens is lower level units contact their higher headquarters and ask for guidance. This guidance should contain your next higher headquarter's unclassified mission statement and a copy of its METL. This is a minimum requirement. If you don't receive information from your WARTRACE higher, then it is the responsibility of your peacetime higher headquarters to provide the guidance necessary for you to develop a meaningful METL. Once you have the guidance necessary, METL development is accomplished by following these five easy steps. Remember that your Mission Training Plans (MTPs) will have most of the information you will need after your initial guidance.
Step 1. Review your wartime missions.

Step 2. List all specific and implied tasks. Some of these may not be in your specific MTP. There is nothing wrong with using another unit's MTP if it fits your mission. You may have to modify it a little; just ensure you have written conditions and standards for all tasks.

Step 3. Select collective tasks essential to accomplish your wartime mission. At this point, you will send your METL for approval to your next higher headquarters. Your next higher commander, if he approves, should identify those tasks on your METL that are most important to his success on the battlefield. Those tasks become your Battle Tasks, hence, Battle-Focused Training. These battle tasks should be your main area of concentration for the training year. (See Figure 1 for METL approval process.)

Step 4. Develop the individual task list that supports the selected collective tasks.

Step 5. Develop training objectives by establishing supporting conditions and standards for each task.

Watched Modern Marvels about Acid and oganisms that could live in acid and extreme heat. It was about an Algea, and details towards the end shown how they find this organism at extreme depths in the ocean from volcano vents and fractured floor. Yes, that is correct, fractured sea floor.

I can't get a direct link on it from History Channel site.

Another neat headline on that site was 65 years ago this week, was the Trinity Test from the Manhatten Project.

Nicely goes in hand with the test done on the 11th in Canada huh ?

I have been trying to get online for hours. Come to find out, my modem FRIED! Could be the solar storm, I have no idea. But I replaced it and back online.

Not been able to catch up and might not be online often for the next few days.... but I wanted to say that the A Whale has been in the same spot for 6 days now (last track showed 07-10-2010) Now this thing was refused for days because it was too big and would be in the way, AND they said they couldn't use it. So why aren't they insisting the damn thing move? Surely with all this going on in installing the new cap, that thing would be in the way!

Also, the flotilla going into the restricted zone is a Liberian ship. So is the A Whale...

Good question... what would this EPFCG device do if detonated at sea level?

If it was a small one, just damage like a normal nuke. Electronics would be disrupted over a area much larger than a nuke of that size though.

If it was any decent size, It could create a pulse that reverbrates through/around the earth and destroy electronics and power generation over a extremely large area, say the size of a continent.

Even larger, and I could see it taking out the unhardened electronics and power generation systems of half the planet. Especially if it goes off when there is a strong solar flare hitting the earth. That would flatten the field a small amount and increase the intensity over the area.

This is pretty far-fetched though. It would take a pretty big monster to do that.

This can lead into some pretty paranoid thoughts.
