Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
The United States Navy is very good at picking up sonar readings from submarine motors in big expanses of water. But it isn't as easy as it seems, there is a lot of noise going on in many parts of the world, such as the Gulf of Mexico for instance. It is hard to isolate the sounds of the submarine, from the sounds of equipment and other diesel motors which are vibrating on top of oil platforms.

There was recently some interesting news in the international intelligence realm, which could also be considered conspiracy theory, that a North Korean cargo ship on its way to Venezuela went off course and came within 250 miles from the BP oil rig which caught on fire and caused this huge eco-disaster oil spill. It was further asserted that this North Korean cargo ship offloaded a North Korean attack submarine.

And that this was an act of war by North Korea. Of course something like that is totally plausibly deniable, and therefore it disappeared from the world news, almost as quickly as it was seen. One has to ask if that was possible, the answer is yes it is possible. It is probably unlikely or improbable, but possible nevertheless. If this is the case, then perhaps that's why the United States Navy had so many ships out in the Gulf of Mexico helping the oil spill, maybe they were actually looking for something else.

Would they be able to find a sonar signature from a diesel powered submarine from North Korea in the Gulf of Mexico? It's hard to say, the submarine may have gotten away by then. Or it may be waiting to do even more damage later. It was further asserted in the conspiracy news report that the people aboard the submarine were part of a North Korean suicide squad. In other words, after they did the attack, they were considered expendable, and thus they may never be found again. Or maybe the sunk the sub and came ashore somewhere?

Let's face it finding a Single submarine in the entire Gulf of Mexico is harder than you think, and there are lots of places to hide in the varying depth of water, in different places. But if anyone can find a single submarine in the Gulf of Mexico, whether it is Russian, North Korean, or some other nation, it would be the United States Navy which was able to find it. And if they did, the chances are pretty good we'd never know about it.
Perhaps this sounds like a Tom Clancy novel to you, but often real life is stranger than fiction.

Thanks, I think we all need a distraction from this addictive thread. I've never been hooked on anything like this. I don't understand it myself. I am usually a strong pragmatist.

Nice article. but he fails to realize that the US Navy got a wake up call a while back, and they have been working very hard at the solutions.

A while ago, the US Navy, while doing maneuvers in the pacific with Japan and I believe South Korea, was suddenly suprised and caught with their pants down when a Chinese submarine surfaced within a few hundred yards of the flagship.

That set them on a technological research and devolpment frenzy that is still going on.

On top of that, Two years ago, the Navy Changed their stategic outlook. They had decided that their missions were changing, and that shallow water ops were becoming the vogue. This meant that they had to develop new systems to identify their environment in the oceans of continental shelves, and close to coasts wih traffic. Again, they have been under heavy development on those systems. Some of them are in deployment right now.

Better sonars with better computers. Able to mask enemy sonars in much the same way that active sound reduction can be done in a car.

Much better computers and software to identify passive sonar. Multiple microphones provide a 3d image of the area. Software that can isolate each individual sound and display what it probably is and where and what track it is taking. This would be short range stuff, say in the order of 20 miles.

I have heard of the research into silent drone torpedos that go out and use their sensors for even better sweeps.

And then there is the possibility of other detection systems using various electromagnetic radiations. They have worked on this in the past, and I would not put it past them to have something useful by now.

All this would be in addition to technology they already have for blue water operation.

cat and mouse.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
Dolomite chimneys associated with hydrocarbon-rich fluid venting was discovered September 2000, as part of the TASYO project (Marine and Science Technology Spanish Programme) in the Gulf of Cadiz. The unexpected discovery occurred during the cruise Anastasya/2000 aboard of research vessel Cornide de Saavedra dredging a 870m-deep and 120m-tall carbonate mound called as the "Iberico". A suite of more than 60 individual structures of chimneys were collected, which displays distinct pipe-like morphologies that varies from 1 to 0.40 m long. Fragments of chimneys from the Hesperides mud volcanoe within the Tasyo field and along the Morrocan margin were also sampled. At same time, in all of these sites, strongly sulfide mud breccia and dolomite slabs have also been collected.
Targets were previously detected in May 2000 by carrying out a detailed mapping and ultra high resolution seismic, with an extent new data of more than 1200 km obtained during the cruise TASYO/2000 aboard of research vessel Hesperides. The Simrad EM12S-120 system, a multibeam echo sounder system, was used for mapping sea-floor. The swath mapping provided bathymetric map contoured at an interval of 1 m also a subsidiary map showing the strength of the sea-floor backscattering of the sonar signal. A Parasound echosounder TOPAS (Topographic Parametric Sound) , which is a sub-bottom profiles was also used.

The chimneys are dominated by Fe-riched dolomite (ankerite) forming aggregates with minor amounts of pyrite, iron oxide, Ta-enriched rutile, zircon and quartz. Abundant, well preserved remains of foraminifera (globigerinoids and milioids) composed of Mg-calcite are present within the matrix. Dolomite aggregrates are remarkably depleted in 13C (-35 to -56 PDB) and are therefore interpreted being the result of methane oxidation by sulphate-reducing bacteria. This microbial activity is shown by abundance spheroids to euhedral pentagonal monocryst composed by up to 60 cells of sulphate-reducing bacteria. Aggregates of single bacteria of about 1?m diameter produces rounded to -pentagonal shaped framboids up to 60 ?m characteristics of pyrite. Presently, mostly these bacterial-origin framboids are replaced by haematite. At same time, some of framboids have been found in the interior of the foraminifer chambers, which could suggest some symbiotic association between foraminifer and chemosyntectic bacteria.

Dolomite chimneys are interpreted as cemented conduits formed as result of methane-enriched fluid expulsion through a submarine mound, probably formed as a mud volcanoe. The abundant pseudo-pyrite framboids are related with the zone of shallow microbial sulphate reduction, a process fundamental to the nourishment of the chemosynthetic cold seep communities. In the last years, it has been considered the importance of carbonate cementation related with methane fluxes, both on submarine modern environments and on rocks of the fossil record. This carbonate cementation, in forms of chimneys, slabs, and crusts has been reported in several tectonic settings such as the Gulf of Mexico, Oregon margin, Otago slope, Monterey basin and Kattegat (e.g. Jorgensen,1992; Orpin 1997; Stakes et al. 1999). Large fluxes of methane seem responsible for dolomite cementation, instead high-Mg calcite and aragonite when fluxes are lower. Recently, its has been hypothesis that extensive anerobial microbial communities exist in sedimentary layers below high-temperatures vent fields. Chemosyntetic bacteria are the primary producer of hydrothermal producers that are fuelled by geothermal energy. The sum of the syntrophy cooperation between methane-oxidisers (archaeobacterias domain) and sulphate-reducers micro-organism produces carbonates and sulphides at the sulphate-methane interface, which depth below sea floor is dependent on the methane flux rate (DeLong 2000)

Question: Why sabotage the DWH rig that blew April 20th?

I have read on anther thread that the sabotage was done by the
"good guys" it is now starting to make sense. Rig blows up- massive oil leak as a result- public focused on stopping the leak, the new cap shows to have stopped the leak ? another oil leak has been reported miles away from site- How long has this been going on ? point is that if something other then the DWH disaster is happening- It can no longer be hidden !

But who knows what is really going on ? The leaks are reported to be at least 500 feet down. Controlled MSM is the only source of info !

Figuring the real problem started in February.

Talk about msm being the only source of info and we're getting none, a friend here in SC today called one of our US Senators and asked him why the US Navy had 46 battle ships in Costa Rica. Senator said he had no idea what they were talking about and asked where they got their information. They gave him the links to Euro news media reporting it.

Do you have link to the thread with the "friendly" sabo info?

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
The Russian Mir submersibles are unlikely to be able to help BP tackle the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a spokesperson for the Fund for the Protection of Lake Baikal said on Monday.

Izvestia daily reported on Monday that BP's management had asked Anatoly Sagalevich of Russia's Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, which owns the mini-submarines, for assistance in eliminating the oil spill's consequences in the Gulf of Mexico.

The fund official said the Mirs had a busy schedule and the equipment for the Baikal expedition had already been sent to the east Siberian city of Irkutsk. The technical staff will soon head to the Irkutsk Region.

"So, the Mir submersibles are unlikely to take part in the elimination of the oil spill's consequences in the Gulf of Mexico," the spokesperson said.

The Gulf of Mexico oil leak started more than six weeks ago following an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform that killed 11 rig workers. An estimated 12,000-19,000 barrels gush up daily from the seabed, posing a major threat to the gulf's flora and fauna.

BP, the owner of the rig about 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the Louisiana coast, has tried with little success to stem the flow of oil. It says it is now managing to gather about 10,000 barrels of oil a day using a special plugging device attached to the head of the drill to siphon oil up to surface ships.

Sagalevich told the Izvestia daily the Mir mini-subs could stop the leakage, but it would take some time.

The expedition to Lake Baikal started in 2008. In 2009, the researchers sought new species of flora and fauna, along with the deepwater gas deposits.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made a four-hour dive to the bottom of Lake Baikal in the Mir-1 mini-submarine in August last year.

The Baikal fund's spokesperson said there also could be difficulties with the support vessels necessary for the Mir mini-subs since "the main support vessel for the Mirs, Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, is now being repaired in Germany."

The spokesperson added that the Russian government's permission would be needed for the Mirs to take part in tackling the oil spill.

Well, I have pretty much decided who I think the protagonist is. If this is real.

Mother Russia.

They have the tech to handle the 80% of the problem. They already knew how.

some info from the OP

"it looks like the Russians have expected this for some time."

"Also, the Russians know far more then us.. They have timed their arrival in the theater expertly"

"...we and russia not on board US navy plans for the Gulf of MEXICO"

"...that russia has helped us with the organism and a 80% counter for it. this is why I said russia knows far more then us. russia was ready before us."

"russian submarine will do a romeo with Em in three hours. russian submarine to offload an empirical calibrator to Em. (translation problem)
this will help Em with hull protection and integrity from flocking. strategic operational window 7 hours after romeo. Terrible already has one. this is important"

"They are not impact zones, they are NEW forming beneath the seabed and the bases are the columns. the Russians knew(predicted it). "

If you read all of the OP's posts till now, it seems like the US Navy is doing nothing, and that Russia is the big brother saving us all with thier perfectly timed arrival and already knowledgable technical help. And France is going it hard and heavy and taking all the 'brave' jobs.

The US Navy not taking control in the gulf. Not in this lifetime. Also, hello, has anyone heard of NATO?

If this stuff was true, then all roads lead to Russia. On top of that, there is a motive for Russia.

They want, and have been very actively seeking to have the oil in the gulf for themeselves. Look it up. They want those oil fields.
