Why would EMPLOYEES working in the mailchamber OPEN UP ENVELOPES ???!?!?!
 Quoting: Krispy71

Uhm...maybe because that's their job? I've worked in a few corporate mailrooms, and that's what the employees there are supposed to do. They open any generically addressed mail so they know who it's supposed to go to for handling.

How can TEARS GAS be contained in such an envelope?

This smells indeed Dhlos ;)
 Quoting: Krispy71

a special manila air tight envelope could contain a powder that might vaporize in contact with oxygen

an embassy mail room is usually equipped with scanning devices that obviously failed in this instance

i bolded the two pieces of info that i think are deliberately occulted in order to spin the news but get the news out to those whom understand

ps nice you recognize me now krispy

Sorry MY BAD ...

I was in the thinking that they only SORTED post OUT, and did not open it.
I appologise sorry

But even then it does not make much sense,
the fact that tear-gas was in such an envelope ...
the fact that a mailroom-employee was the target ...
the sender(s) must have known that such employees would open up the mail and would be affected and not the person it was adressed to > this all makes me believe very strongly that it was a harmless "set-up" to spook off other people who got a real "13th-october"-BRIEFCASE.

edited last sentence coz Dhlos gave me an answer in the post above hf

Did you even read OP's post about the diplomatic briefcases delivered to 5 embassies a day before this event?

I've read more than enough from the OP to know it's all BS.

This thread is very entertaining, though.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
depends on the government department, organisation etc; i work for HM Government, part of my job is sort out post on a morning, if it has a name and address, it goes straight to that person unopened; however, if it does not have a name or an address, i will open it to find out if the information is inside, if that info is not forthcoming, i will then see try and see and who it was sent by, to have a guess as to who it should have been sent to.

Viz top tip, when sending a parcel bomb, put the correct name and address on the package, then the object of your hatred will get blown to smithereens, rather than little old badly paid me in the postroom.

Assuming the package was generic addressed, it was possibly something that would sicken rather than kill or maim. This would be a strong message to be careful what you open, it may not be good for you.
"Let Them Eat Cake" is a quote from Marie Antoinette of France what told the peasants have no bread. This is currently being quoted in US news to demonstrate the arrogance of some American politicians. It lost something in me translating it.

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
BP has covered the Gulf with two million gallons of Corexit containing butoxyethanol, which is a carcinogen that is useful as a solvent for resins, lacquers, varnishes, and enamels. In other words, it can dissolve plastics.
nj.gov/health/eoh/rtkweb/documents/fs/0275.pdf

OP reported buoys popping went dropped to the water. We think those were plastic buoys.

Remembering the flocking OP reported on the French submarine and curious whether a plastic exterior coating on the sub might attract Corexit's solvent properties, the following is information a quick check shows about submarine exterior coating.

Submarines are coated with biologically active antifouling coating systems containing ablative cuprous oxide.
[link to www.nstcenter.com]

"The most successful principle in use today for the protection of ship's hulls against this unwanted growth is the release of bioactive materials from antifouling coatings.

Antifouling coatings containing a mixture of cuprous oxide and triorganotin compounds in combination with sophisticated release mechanisms are considered to be today's most efficient systems. ...... During the last decade, however, environmental aspects have become a top priority in the development of new biocides for antifouling coatings."
[link to www.sciencedirect.com]

Something on the underwater equipment being shown to us on BP cam screens is attracting bugs, or a type of flocking to that equipment.

We've never been told what is the "cargo" and are left to wonder whether the sub-flocking is due to the cargo.

Some of you reading know a little about submarines. Please give us your thoughts on whether the bioactive protective coating could attract another biological microbes to the exterior of submarines or underwater equipment. The Russian calibrator being discussed in this thread may simply be emitting charges through the sub hull which causes the microbes to be deflected.

Generally there's not too many trees on airfield, especially close to the runways and hangers... I don't see how the fire could have spread."

Russia's naval airbase in fire ...

Russia's Defense Ministry denied information about the fire at the "Naval Air Base" in the Kolomna district and the destruction of 200 aircraft

MOSCOW, August 3. Itar-Tass. Russia's Defense Ministry denied that appears in a number of media "information" about a fire at the "Naval Air Base" in the Kolomna district, which allegedly had been destroyed over 200 aircraft and helicopters.

"The Office's press service and information, the Defense Ministry denies appeared in a number of media reports about a fire at the" Navy Air Base "in the Kolomna district, - underlined in the message management. - No air base to the Navy in Kolomna district no. Reports of the destruction by fire of more than 200 aircraft and helicopters are an invention of journalists.
