Quoting: owenmeanyI started obeservations july 12th. I can just say that, today, the sun is 40 min too late, since july 12th, to give shadow at the front of a straihgt street, just around the corner where I live. can somebody shoot at my observations, for so far I understand, this is not the result of shortening of daylight that comes with the seasons. please shoot The sun appears to be moving southward as the earth tilts toward the north pole (following summer solstice on June 21). As the tilt increases, the northern latitudes have less and less daylight while the sun appears to move ever farther south in the sky. By September 21, the hours of light and dark are equal, but the earth continues to tilt toward the north until December 21 - and the sun continues to appear farther and farther south in the sky. Then, on December 21, the tilt begins to reverse toward the south pole, and the sun starts moving slowly northward again as the hours of daylight slowly increase. Nothing strange here... Pretty well stated simple explanation of elementary knowledge. Solstices and equinoxes are subjects for grade school classes. I think that credibility and intelligence are not based on low ID numbers. lol sun will be lower at horizon but not at a different time :) he nobody comment on this ?? strange |

We have a street through town, graded out in the horse and buggy days, which runs due East and West. Driving East through town in the early morning, the sun is in your eyes so that you can hardly see. The same thing driving West in the evenings before sunset. Last week, I discussed with a friend that about a year and a half ago the sun turned a degree or two more to the North. I can tell by the shadow of the roofline of my house where it runs along the garden. We decided to drive the East-West street in town at sunset to see how far off was the sun from due West. We were amazed that not only was the sun offline compared to the line of the street, but that driving at at 6:30pm looking for the sun to be low, it was too high in the sky and looked like it was about 4:30pm. We checked the clock to see if the clock was wrong. It was not. The sun is late! |

As far as a true submarine ... apparantly, this 'super sub' can go much deeper than anyone would have thought possible. so, 1500 meters for several subs in GOM is possible ? I have been out of the sub loop for a few years, but, to my knowledge, crush depth on a nuke sub was at about 2200ft... or so. The newest attack subs would not necessarily be able to go too much deeper... if of a conventional design. To go to 5000ft would require an unconventional design, of which I know absolutely nothing about. There is one. I can't tell you about it, but there is one design for a conventional looking sub to be able to go VERY deep. From back in the 1980's. I don't know if it was ever implemented. Costs would have been at least 50% more than normal for the same size sub. When I was a flight test engineer for Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin now) I worked on state of the art infrared systems built for the Air Force. We had developed the first digital IR system for The Lantirn program. Well, after the F-117 stealth program was outed, we received a couple a non-coms from that program (sensor techs) one became a good friend. Anyway, he told me that what was on board the F-117 as far as IR, was far superior to the Lantirn, which was state of the art... or so we all thought. F-117 had integral pods, ours hung on the fuselage. F-117 had digital IR well before Lantirn.. I asked who built all of it.. 'can't say' was the answer. If the sun was "late", That would entail a slowdown of the the earths rotation, or slowdown of the orbit. Every astronomer on Earth would be trying to be first to publish and clamoring for their Nobel Prize. It would also mean that the stars would move across the sky at a different rate, and I would never be able to get my telescopes to track the stars properly, as they are on geared systems. That did not happen 4 nights ago, when I was out observing, and it sure did not happen last week when I did a solar observation.
