I then asked him what was so different about the mine he was working in. He told me of a layer of white hard rock that had to be blasted daily. He also said it was quite peculiar in that when transported to the surface would eventually so totally dissociate that it would blow away in the wind. He also recalled that the surface of this layer had become quite powdered by the start of work next day and we reasoned that he would in fact be breathing it in after blasting it.

The abnormal abilities he had only lasted a short while after leaving this mine. We therefore decided to obtain some of this material and I would analyse and experiment with it. At this point he also told me of a UFO that showed up one night and was witnessed by all at the restaurant at Coober Pedy (about 80 in all and I talked to another witness) It was barrell shaped and after approaching them headed for the area the abovmentioned mine was located. It came down in that area and rested upon the earth surface for a while.

After a while it took off again. There was an interesting sequel. About one week later two strangers came to the field wanting to do some drilling. My friend's partner at the time owned a Caldweld rig. He was asked to contract the drill for them. They happened to head for the area the UFO had landed and where my frind's mine was located. After the holes were drilled these guys went down to inspect the layers and my friend told me that they did not seem to be interested in opal, rather they were examining the white layer of this abovementioned material.

They then left and did not return, at least while he was at that mine.
