Navy Secretary Ray Mabus will announce today that Northrop Grumman will be required to finish work on two LPD ships at Avondale Shipyard before it ceases operations there and that he will act administratively to move the start of the Navy's program for building double-hulled oil tankers up from 2017 to 2014,

The delegation has been pressing him and the Obama administration to find ways to keep Avondale from being shuttered after Northrop closes its shipbuilding operations there in 2013.

In addition to his job as Navy secretary, Mabus was assigned by President Barack Obama to develop a plan for Gulf Coast restoration in the wake of the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

"What the Navy and Secretary Mabus and the administration are trying to do is find every avenue that might be available to keep Avondale a fully functioning shipyard" while also exploring "alternative options for Avondale as a manufacturing complex," Melancon said.

Small towns get "grants" from BP, or some corp-o-rat and the small town mayors SHUT UP! Not likely that the mayors get the money, but the town.

The Senator has been pledged a vote on a bill he is supporting, or his campaign account has received a contribution - all legal from corp-o-rats.

In light of the overwhelming evidence, the lab reports have to be fudged, but the guys signing off want to keep their job so they can make their mortgage payment. If they don't sign off, the boss will find someone who will, because he wants to keep his job.

Corporations have too much authority and the US government is now fascist where corporate controls our tax dollars and how our resources are expended.

This is a report about Texas A & M research. Please remember that Texas A & M is on the side "paid by BP."

Reports says they don't know much about the bacteria blooms, that the gas is being eatenn first and they expect that the bacteria will then move on and eat the oil.

The report says NOTHING about the crack in the reservoir at the bottom of the ocean, which we can reasonably expect to continue to be gushing hydrocarbons.

There is no way we can believe the gushing oil has been stopped until these reports discuss the breached reservoir.

The five were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000.

You have been going so far above the call of duty with your work on this thread that I found myself wondering whether you were being paid by someone for your input, I know now that this has been incorrect.

Zero ships is a bad sign, maybe there going to ignite the methane bomb or the hurricane is due.

The double hull is now a reuirement on all oil tankers in the ocean that would come into US waters.

This is a result of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. That tanker was a single hull design. After it was breached, all the oil leaked out and we all know what happened.

Double hull design for tankers was already developed, but not popular due to costs. The idea is to have a extra inner hull to contain the oil and allow the outside hull to be a sacrificial item. The ouside hull takes the damage and hopefully the inside hull stays intact or has much less damage to spill oil out of.

Howeer, it was shown that if the Exxon Valdez had a double hull, the disaster would not have happened. The damage to the ship would have only torn open the outer hull.

Currently in GOM...last itinerary it was on its way to Costa Rica (?????)

Generally very few ships, except home-based tugs have been in the Louisiana area since the end of August. Hundreds of ships left at that time and huddled in the Galveston/Corpus Christi area. The ship traffic has not returned to Louisiana or the area of the oil spill.

When the pattern of ship changed from we had seen to be "normal" Woodie told us there had been a "TKO."

Given this major change in ship traffic, a rational person cannot believe the "everything is OK, come on in the water is fine" bull spouted by paid BP spoutsters.
