Change the subject. Usually in connection with one of the other ploys listed here, find a way to side-track the discussion with abrasive or controversial comments in hopes of turning attention to a new, more manageable topic. This works especially well with companions who can 'argue' with you over the new topic and polarize the discussion arena in order to avoid discussing more key issues. Pope likens growing atheism in England to Nazi Germany Pope Benedict XVI, on the first papal visit to the United Kingdom in 28 years, has made some controversial comments. Benedict likened the rise of British atheism and secularism to the rise of the Nazi Party in his native Germany. In addition, he made the most thorough admission to date of failings of the church in the way the sex abuse scandal was handled. "Even in our own lifetime, we can recall how Britain and her leaders stood against a Nazi tyranny that wished to eradicate God from society and denied our common humanity to many, especially the Jews, who were thought unfit to live. "I also recall the regime's attitude to Christian pastors and religious who spoke the truth in love, opposed the Nazis and paid for that opposition with their lives. "As we reflect on the sobering lessons of the atheist extremism of the twentieth century, let us never forget how the exclusion of God, religion and virtue from public life leads ultimately to a truncated vision of man and of society and thus to a 'reductive vision of the person and his destiny.' Don't know if there are transponders on the wave rider robots, but do know that the total ship count in the North end of the Gulf continues to show majority of traffic pushed over to Texas, rather than Louisiana, and it's been this way since the end of August. Today's ship count: 678 Texas 159 Louisiana 26 Florida Compare that to around 700-800 in LA prior to the end of August. Something is going on to keep most regular shipping away from the spill site. |
