Four Japanese Held in China as Fishing Boat Tensions Escalate

Japan said four of its citizens are being held in China for allegedly videotaping military targets as tensions heightened over a territorial dispute that has damaged ties between Asia’s two biggest economies.

The four are employees of Fujita Corp., Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshito Sengoku said today in Tokyo. They were visiting Hebei, China on company business unrelated to military issues, Fujita spokesman Yoshiaki Onodera said.

Lost internet connection tuesday and again tonight for a short time. Comcast says there was nothing reported to them from our area tonight but there was last tuesday....

Seems like there was some trouble with the Internet today...posters indicated Facebook was having issues. OP's GF posted earlier...2x

Local news at 5pm yesterday announced that people were having trouble logging onto FB. I thought this strange. They'll announce connection problems with FB, but won't give us news on the Gulf.

A cross post from the hurrican matthew pin... I thought you guys should know if it has not been mentioned already.

We are going to find out pretty soon what is going on in the GOM.

The Greenpeace Arctic Sunrise is directly over the Biloxi Dome right now.

If there is something leaking will know in the next few days I am sure.

Right on schedule for the US Midterms, as predicted by me about two months ago, as an AC.

The Pisces is currenly heading to port. There is a cargo vessel from an oil service company (I think) keeping tabs on the GP-AS.

Cheers,

hope that is true
i'll keep my reservations though;)

"Funny, Greenpeace doesn't talk about that. Nor does it mention:

* that BP is funding research into "ways of tackling the world's climate problem" at Princeton University to the tune of $2 million per year for 15 years
* that BP is funding an energy research institute involving two other US universities to the tune of $500 million – the aim of which is "to develop new sources of energy and reduce the impact of energy consumption on the environment"
* that ExxonMobil itself has donated $100 million to Stanford university so that researchers there can find "ways to meet growing energy needs without worsening global warming"

The only dollar amounts Greenpeace cites in its explanation of why it decided to launch ExxonSecrets is that measly $2.2 million. Versus 10 + 2 + 30 + 500 + 100. Let's see, which all adds up to…wait for it…$642 million."

Gigle Ham radio net and see. There are many nets which were the 1930 prototypes of the way the internet is set up. Many repeater have frequency offsets so you can listen and talk at same time.

Hans, could you explain why this is or is not good for communication (in idiot terms please)

"Well, tonight (as I write this), Gene's "resonant reality of Star Trek" -- of a limitless, human future ... where Earth ultimately joins "a grand galactic Federation ... and discovers ... 'new life and new civilizations ...'"--

Is about to become Real!

For, tonight, "sources" have strongly suggested to Enterprise -- through a series of in-depth, "no holds barred" conversations ... stretching over the last several days -- that the European Space Agency (ESA) has, as of tonight, finally, painstakingly, confirmed the existence of precisely such "an artificial, hollow world."

Accessible to current human space flight technology ... in this solar system.

And ... after lengthy deliberations and consultations with other "space faring nations" on this planet -- ESA has decided to, indeed, formally announce this staggering discovery ... to the entire world.

The only serious remaining question being -- "when?""

Mystery force in space baffles NASA

A force in space is hindering the journey of a NASA spacecraft.

Scientists have been baffled by a mysterious phenomenon that has prevented the craft from moving further into outer space.

Described as a force that defies all laws of nature, they have said gravity laws may eventually need to be changed.

Defying all previously-known theories about the universe, the strange force that gently pushes spacecraft away from outer space was discovered last year when the spacecraft Pioneer 10 was stopped in its path by the unknown phenomenon.

Researchers for NASA have said the force could be a totally new phenomenon that does not fall under familiar titles such as gravity or electromagnetic power.

A tangible scientific explanation has not been put forward for the fact that the Pioneer 10 left the solar system to start its voyage in a space where there is no solar radiation or planets to attract it toward their orbits.
