Humility is not embodied in the act of being humble, but rather in the attitude one adopts to the process of discovering one's role in the universe.

I have studied directly under Robert Thurman. Outwardly, he is the least humble person I have ever met, yet he is the foremost Tibetian Buddhist in America, and our first ordained monk.

Humility as taught in institutional monotheism asks you subordinate your soul to the changing fashions of human society. The humility that God asks is embodied in the Eight Pillars of Buddhist teachings, and other places.

I hope this clears things up... I want nothing but sincere joy for all posters in this thread and GLP. hf

Cheers,
AM
