To me, starting at the left, the off centered ball represents an unbalanced world, the earth. the second sphere represents the earth in an embryo state...a rebirth. That follows through the interstellar cloud to the third sphere showing the inner circle, the earth, in balance once again.

Just my take.

Probably the last Crop Circle of the season and this one carries a message to be sure.........
[link to www.cropcircleconnector.com]

I think the message is clear.

Which is ...?

The second area from the left represents a pie chart.

The middle section represents a journey.

The section on the left is the earth and the moon and the part on the far right represents the larger cosmos.

A portion of the Earth's population will join the galaxy.
 Quoting: American Mentat

Another interpretation is that the curvy section is DNA.

The left represents our current state of incompleteness.

The second from the left represents that which is missing.

The part on the right represents our state after completion.

It could be all this, IMHO, two meanings.

The GREEN Comet is on it's way!
APPROACHING COMET: Green comet 103P/Hartley 2 is approaching Earth for a close encounter on Oct. 20th. At that time, the comet will be only 11 million miles from Earth and should be dimly visible to the naked eye from dark sky sites. It already looks great through backyard telescopes. Italian amateur astronomer Toni Scarmato took this picture on Sept. 29th using a 10-inch reflector:

[link to www.spaceweather.com]

He caught the comet gliding by lambda Cassiopeia, a 6th magnitude double star. "In 7x50 binoculars, the comet is diffuse and very large," says Scarmato. "I estimate its size around 20-arcminutes and brightness at magnitude +7.5."

An interesting read on Stuxnet............
[link to www.cmoslabs.com]
 Quoting: childoflight

Yes, a well written article for non-IT folks to absorb. Now, you can see why this is so worrisome on several levels. As I indicated the other day, the *potential* is staggering for those that understand the technicals. This article helps the laymen grasp that potential.

This is not over, even if Iran's plant was indeed targeted and then damaged.

As an aside, one thing you might notice from that article is a total lack of any mention regarding quantum computing. I know where that reference started (another GLP thread), but for a number of reasons, it's not applicable here and only confuses and sensationalizes capabilities (which are sensational enough!)

You will note, that infections are occurring worldwide, including North America. The actual target(s) remain unknown, nor is it known if (or when) those infected Siemens PLCs will be commanded to wreak havoc.

I hope not, but the *potential* does exist. We just don't know. If any of our respective global agencies do know, they are not saying, for obvious reasons.

At any rate, just wanted to say thanks for the article I can forward to family and friends they can wrap their heads around.

 Quoting: breezy

I don't admire anyone that does this, because it has the potential of hitting beyond the intended target(s). More importantly, it serves as a proof of concept and design pattern for others to model after.

I also don't admire companies who perpetually create crap software (Microsoft) or who hard-code critical passwords (Siemens) into vital control mechanisms. In both cases, the crackers exploited these deficiencies in a clever, but unsophisticated manner. There is nothing new in how this was designed to spread. It was simply exploiting glaring weaknesses in vendor code, beit Windows or firmware on the PLCs.

Now, with that said, there is sophistication and it comes with the targeting system built into it. By discerning the type of system, it will set up shop and wait, or not. As to what it does once activated, is not so much a matter of sophistication as it is just taking control of some aspect of the physical hardware.

This worm's success hinges on leveraging software defects and piss-poor designs. Much in the same way a disaster is usually a culmination of seemingly minor failures/mistakes, that when taken together lead to bad things.

So, our OP specifically stated that IRAN was not part of the picture, yet we are all diverting so much time and effort to STUX and implications in IRAN.

We've trusted OP, GF and Acolyte to date.

Maybe we could return to working out more of that code, like who or what KremPP is. I can help it, but my sorry old eyes keep seeing K R (em=Emeraude?) P P. I've giggled it and searched high and low, but cant pull anything together.

I just re-read all of Krispy's OP postings.. again.

Surely there is much more relevant info in there?

Long ago someone suggested KremPP could be the Kremlin, specifically (former) President Putin. FWIW.

As for Stuxnet, I threw that into the ring as a possible area to explore, among many others that have and are being discussed. From there two GLP threads were cross referenced and we swerved off the road into quantum mechanics land. LOL!

Dont get me wrong, STUX is fascinating, and totally mainstream now, hell I even got a notification from my virus protection linking an article! I still think STUX is deeper than reported, hard coded, rather than exploiting hard coding in various systems.

Maybe on the 13th all will be 'switched off', so we have to look at the big tele in the sky for info.

Just because I might admire the intelligence involved in writing that program, and feel it's pretty darned sophisticated....doesn't mean I admire those who set it into motion, or their ultimate intent....the fact that they could and did w/o detection is downright scary....and I wonder just what the target is...perhaps we are being misled about it being the nuke site in Iran...we are sure being pushed that way, but...how many systems are there worldwide that this worm will affect??? how about subs/aircraft carriers/weapons systems/satellites/ISS/commercial airliners/nuke sites worldwide/electrical systems/banking systems/deep sea oil drillers, or the internet itself...after all...how better to get contol of the internet, than to do it for "our protection"....

It's obvious that no one knows what all could be involved or end up being a target....and scarier still is that perhaps by the time those responsible are caught up with...the damage it caused will be irreversible.....there are always unknown unknowns...and those are the ones that cause the most trouble..perhaps it might even come back and bite those responsible right where it hurts the most...

Stuxnet is admirable in a perverse sort of way since it got through some of the better AV 's in the industry. Most of the worms and viruses can be/are written by a reasonably bright 12 year old and they walk right through Microsoft's alleged "security." Bill Gates should be hung from a lamppost by the feet and used as a piñata.

Understood. It's a sore spot for me much in the same way a medical professional would feel about those that spread biologicals as a weapon.

As for the worm damaging some of the areas you mention (ISS, satellites, etc), this does not appear to be the case. The worm targets a very specific hardware configuration, and is limited to Siemens PLCs -- such as those found in oil pipeline valves.

If you want something realistic to be concerned with, I'll leave you with this one: what other worm using the same Stuxnet design pattern is in the wild today? It was reported that Stuxnet was first identified in late spring, but is suspected to have been in the wild longer. Meaning, it remained undetected for quite awhile. So, is there another Stuxnet-like worm in the wild today that could impact the areas you mention? It's possible.

 Quoting: Hans The Magnificent

True, I can see that point. Worms can be more difficult to detect than viruses, which is why I'm not surprised AVs initially missed it. Now they know what to look for, so updates are being created by AV vendors.

Back in the 80s, PC viruses hit the scene in a big way and I had to create a memo to all users on precautions. Keep in mind this was the 80s. I was shocked at the people that called the bank pres. concerned they were going to catch this virus I was talking about.

So, on memo #2 (lol!) I explained why they did not have to fear for their personal health.

What is perversely admirable I suppose, is this worm has made the leap into the physical realm, with health and safety consequences we are only starting to contemplate as we witness movie fiction becoming all too real.

Can I have first crack at that piñata? chuckle

Re: Something Just Went BEZERK in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Navy just sunk a French Submarine
I'm going to be a bit dull and explain a bit more about PC malware. Viruses, worms, trojans are generally detected by anti-virus software via a unique "signature", that is to say, someone in the lab has analysed the thing and found something unique to identify it by. The trouble is, for quite some number of years, that they have often been coded to be polymorphic and to mutate, thus becoming undetectable once more.

The big thing nowadays is for anti-virus software to identify malicious stuff through a behavioural-based method. This means that, in the case of IBM's VM version for example, the a-v software maps the normal functions of the system, baselines it, if you like, and regards anything that does stuff that deviates from this landscape as suspect.

The problem with the behavioural approach is that it can generate a lot of "false positives" for legitimate software that behaves in some part like an infector, which is why such a technique is only becoming available commercially very slowly.

Horrors like the latest zbot and Stuxnet are "kitchen sink" malware, they try multiple infection vectors, are polymorphic, and (zbot) have multiple functions - zbot, for example, is a rootkit, runs a backdoor, runs an invisible (to the user) web server, and downloads as many further nasties (like keyloggers) as the writer wishes.

I'm using Linux at the moment... not immune from all of that crap, but a great deal better.

Identity theft is the really nasty one. If you lose enough personal data, you could, in extremis, become a murder target in a revenge killing for something you'd know nothing about. In a more usual instance, lose control of your bank account and credit cards. Etc.
