Just one more point - my son was in Special Forces. Listening to conversation between him and his buddies, it was quite obvious that there are ongoing military operations at all times for the US around the world. They lost friends in engagements during "peaceful" times. They can never talk about those assignments - where they were, what they did - but there is plenty going on behind the curtain that the public is "protected" from knowing.
