kedging - 1 - To kedge off. A method of pulling a boat out of shallow water when it has run aground. A dinghy is used to set an anchor, then the boat is pulled toward the anchor.

Brittania rules the waves. Not the sandbars.

The anchor line is attached to the main halyard, to tilt the boat over, as line is winched in, until it has shallow enough draught to float. In the sub's case, the line would be run to the top of the conning tower, then out to the anchor.

this would work for a keel boat, where tilting the boat over allows the keel to go side ways and the boat to float on her side with alot shallower draft.
But if sub hull is round or as i suspect ,wider than she is deep, then tilting her has no advantage or makes things worse.
last year i hit a sandbank on an out going tide in my 36' cat. nothing i could do till the tide came in again lol.So im certainly not gunna laugh at these guys misfortune.(too much anyway).lol
