It is called "SYNTHIA" it was developed by Dr. EVIL himself Craig Ventor and they first released it in the Gulf to expand oil recovery because this lab created computer programmed genome broke down the crudes viscosity among other things increasing the flow thus increasing the recovery. When the oil disaster occurred after BP drilled into methane resulting in the explosion this same genome was computer programmed to break down the oil (People use the term "eat") it is then that this "SYNTHIA" began to mutate with aquatic life of all types causing severe deformities, it began to mutate itself and it is programmed to self replicate and the controls that they had eventually stopped working and it is now totally out of control. Somewhere along the way this genome has mutated with human cells and it began replicating a form of human skin creating a huge living mass on the sea floor. There was never any proper testing done on this before it was released in the Gulf. Now it has been seen actually embedding itself into inanimate objects such as steel, plastic, rubber and cloth and mutating on the molecular level giving those things a sort of artificial life making them seem to come alive, the process has actually been video taped and you can see it in action on the BeePeeOilDisaster Youtube page. All of the surface support ships and drilling rigs hulls and undersides are covered in this stuff and it is eating holes in the steel. They are frantically trying to come up with something that kills this stuff but it may already be past the point of no return...
