Where are the birds ? Mentioned this in spring, watched the numbers slowly deminish. Now its fall in South West Florida, and there is hardly any of the common flocks of birds this time of year as before, much more so noticed as you make your way inland away from the gulf coast. Even the buzzards are fewer, still some here. Through the summer there had been little to almost none of the ussual fire ant population, not that they were missed, but very strange indeed.
Its the sight of no birds that get the wheels turning. This part of Florida is swamped with them normally, and in addition to migrate birds. What's trully missed are the tropical types of birds you'd see often, not even one. Then there's the noisey mockingbirds that would be in abundance, not a peep at all. Where did they all go ?
