Excuse my rough recollection of this quote, but weren't all the spooks and agencies in a flap at the beginning of all this, not really knowing how to react as it was now all about love and respect for our fellow man and planet? Havent seen much of that discussed either.

THE GULF OF MEXICO BP OIL SPILL KILLED THE GULF LOOP WHICH IS THE DRIVING FORCE OF THE GULF STREAM. IN THE PAST IT HAS BROUGHT WARM WATER AND AIR OVER TO THE COAST OF IRELAND AND THE UK, WHICH IS THE MAIN REASON WE DONT ALREADY SUFFER WINTERS ON A PAR WITH N.CANADA AND RUSSIA.
WELL, THE GULF STREAM IS GONE - AND WE ARE HEADING INTO A WINTER THAT THIS COUNTRY SIMPLY CANNOT COPE WITH.

WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN A HORRENDOUS START TO THE UK WINTER WITH MORE SET TO FOLLOW NEXT WEEK, WITH FORECASTERS SAYING ITS GOING TO BE HERE TIL XMAS (THATS AS FAR AS THEY FORECAST FOLKS! THIS IS HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL)

The Chinese are 'repairing' something in the Arctic Ocean, I think along the main fault line there, the Eurasia Basin, Pogy Knoll, Molloy Seamount.

Can anyone substantiate this? - Isis7? Acolyte?

Arctic Tipping Points – is a multidisciplinary research project supported by the European Commission. Thirteen different institutions from Norway, Spain, Denmark, Poland, United Kingdom, France, Russian Federation, Greenland, Sweden and Germany are participating in research, data analysing and communication with the politician and the society.

Warming of the northern hemisphere has resulted in a dramatic loss of sea ice, which again is a loss of critical habitat for ice-related species. Further, loss of ice may also change the global ocean current and causes major changes in the underwater light and turbulence environment affecting primary production and other key ecosystem functions. Warming of polar ecosystems allows the invasion by species opportunistically extending their latitudinal range and increasing temperature has a major impact on the physiological and life history traits of the organisms present.

There is now mounting evidence that ecosystem response to certain types or magnitudes of external pressures (like e.g. climate changes) is often abrupt and non-linear, leading to a significant reorganization of system properties and processes. Such ecosystem changes are known as regime shifts and the non-linear responses are often initiated by qualitative changes in the structure or function of the ecosystem. They may be so fundamental that the impacted ecosystems respond to new pressures in completely different manners than the original ecosystem did. ‘‘Tipping point’’ commonly refers to a critical level or threshold at which minor perturbations can qualitatively alter the state or development of a whole system.

Arctic ecosystems are in particular sensitive to even minor changes in temperature and you will therefore expect that climate-driven threshold and tipping points lead to abrupt changes here much sooner compared to other ecosystems. Further, Arctic is warming about three times faster than the global rate and the Arctic ecosystems are likely to encounter severe ecological changes. In fact, the ongoing loss of the Arctic ice pack has been identified as one of the key tipping elements in the world climate system, making change in the Arctic significant on a global scale. Current models suggest that the Arctic Ocean will be largely ice-free in late summer within the next 30 years.

The ATP-project is focusing on where and when climate-related tipping points are reached within the arctic area. By seven different work packages, ATP are addressing the questions through analysis of existing data, applying new experimental approaches and by modelling the dominating physical and biological components. ATP will further generate new knowledge of how changes in Arctic ecosystems may impact employment, income and lifestyle for the European Arctic.

Running a small private school that works with North Korean defectors in their teens and 20s, Woo has a firsthand look at students produced by the educational system in the Hermit Kingdom, and the news isn't good, he says.

Arctic Ocean Basin

The smallest of Earth's five ocean basins is the Arctic. The Arctic Ocean extends south from the North Pole to the shores of Europe, Asia, and North America. The surface waters of the Arctic Ocean mingle with those of the Pacific Ocean through the Bering Strait, by way of a narrow and shallow channel, which has a depth of about 55 meters (180 feet). More importantly, the Arctic waters mix with those of the Atlantic Ocean across a system of submarine sills (shallow ridges) that reach from Scotland to Greenland and from Greenland to Baffin Island at depths of about 500 to 700 meters (1,640 to 2,300 feet).

The total surface area of the Arctic Ocean—including its major subdivisions, the North Polar Sea (the main portion), the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea, and the Barents Sea—is about 14 million square kilometers (5.4 million square miles).

Approximately one-third of the Arctic Ocean is underlain by continental shelf, which includes a broad shelf north of Eurasia and the narrower shelves of North America and Greenland. Seaward of the continental shelves lies the Arctic Basin proper, which is subdivided into a set of three parallel ridges and four basins (also known as deeps). These features have been discovered and explored only since the late 1940s. The Lomonosov Ridge, the major ridge, cuts the North Polar Sea almost in half, extending as a submarine bridge 1,700 kilometers (1,060 miles) from Siberia to the northwestern tip of Greenland. Parallel to it are two shorter ridges: the Alpha Ridge on the North American side, defining the Canada and Makarov basins, and the mid-ocean ridge on the Eurasian side, defining the Nansen and Fram basins.

The average depth of the Arctic Ocean is only about 1,500 meters (4,900 feet) because of the vast shallow expanses on the continental shelves. The deepest point in the Arctic Ocean is 5,450 meters (17,880 feet).

Unlike the other oceans, the Arctic Ocean is ice-covered. At lower latitudes, the ice melts during the summer months. At polar latitudes, however, the ice cover is permanent. Another distinctive feature of the Arctic Ocean is the presence of islands composed of ice. These ice islands move, as does much of the ice cover, in the currents that exist in the underlying ocean water. Scientists have used the islands as research bases to study the arctic ice movements and other aspects of the far North.

Strange indeed, and it seemed the magnetic flux caused or altered the appearance too.

Thanks ISIS, I think most of the confusion is caused by the sattelite fly over paths. They ALL intersect around here on their fly bys and so the collage view of them all together is more cramped and creates odd joins, where as other points on Earth are less cramped together with the fly bys.

Thanks so much for digging all this up so quickly. Anything more comes to light and I will share straight away.

Nice vid on the atlantic current. The question is if it is stopped due to the gulf oil spill or the warming in the nothern latitudes. There is evidence that it has stopped and reversed before. It had been reported that it was slowing prior to the gulf spill. Another earth change that they can blame on the gulf oil spill I suspect. Just a thought. rken

Hot springs on the Arctic sea floor

Scientists from Switzerland and Norway have taken a voyage to the Arctic to investigate what is deep down on the seabed there. Using a remote controlled submarine, they have located the northernmost "black smoker," a deep-ocean vent that heats the icy seas to more than 400 degrees Celsius.

Wonder how many of these smokers there are in the Arctic...explains the warming going on if there are many.
This seems to be going on everywhere, and to some extent may compensate for the Gulf Stream failure, depending on how the ocean currents re-arrange themselves.
(If we get a cold current off the coast drawn down from the north here in the U.K. as part of this re-ajustment, then we will be into almost tundra conditions.)
Has The U.S. tried to create a new GOM situation in the Arctic with these nukes?
Many countries have shown interest in the resource rich Arctic, and a possible reason may be that this area may be much more accessible in the near future, with new shipping lanes opening up if melting continues apace. Wonder if they have been speeding up this process?

caught the end part of a documentary on UK tv a few days ago .... think it was filmed in Siberia or somewhere similar and was titled 'The coldest Place on earth' .... guy took a bucket of boiling water, tipped it out it in the air, and the water droplets immediately turned into snow

When I was in Russia, they had a way of telling how cold it was. Seems like if you spit and it froze (Crackling sound) before it hit the ground, it was colder than -60 I believe.If it hit the ground and then froze it was only about -35 or something like that. They had a whole system worked out on that basis down to like -100. Tells you how much there is to do in Russia in the wintertime.
