Merry Christmas Bezerkers! Love this site and all the fantastic information that shows up here!

Darn it, I didn't get a Bezerk T-shirt for Christmas and it was the one and only thing I asked Santa for!

Peace and Love!

I was just wondering about the double rainbow now appearing in various places. I saw one here when that bad storm hit a while back.

Could it be because of all the oil spills around the world?

Hi Tutu, hoping your having a great holiday.

Quite common? How long have these double rainbows been around?

With all the worldwide oil spills, I think the atmosphere would be effected everywhere, not just in an isolated place.

I guess with the legend of the "Rainbow Promise" in the bible, I wondered if it might be viewed as an omen of some sort.

The rainbow I saw was like a mirror image next to a regular rainbow to form a very wide band that circled the entire sky.

It is the only one I have ever seen. Now, it is in the news from elsewhere. hmmm

Hmmmm, I have different ideas about moonbows and double rainbows.

Being from Kentucky, I've seen a moonbow at Cumberland Falls. We've been taught moonbows are rare, occuring in only a few places around the world. The only place in Hawaii I've heard of a moonbow is on Kauai.

About the double rainbows, it's been only the past couple of years that I am aware that people have discussed in public that they are seeing these. Another pecularity about the double rainbows is that they seem to appear under somewhat overcast conditions after a storm with the sun just peeking through, rather than in the blazing sunlight where we often see single rainbows.

imo, these double rainbows are due to the second sun which is now sometime visible to the naked eye. I saw this the first time about 2004, with the sun filtering through pine trees late in the afternoon, with the second sun about the size of a dime to a half dollar, in about the 2 o'clock position. Whe you see the second sun now, it is larger than the size of a nickel to a half dollar and is in approximately a 4 o'clock position to the sun.

Late this spring, a niece in South Georgia (USA) posted a phone pic from her swimming pool to FB, showing the sun peeking through the clouds and titled it, "Here comes the Sun!" becuase she and children had been hoping for sunshine. She hadn't noticed, but through the haze of the cloud cover you could see the second sun.

Soon after, a friend in KY near Louisville posted on FB a pic of a double rainbow peeking through the haze of the storm which had recently passed.

It appears that we only see the two suns if there is no glare (lens flare), or are looking through some kind of filter. Same goes for the double rainbows.

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone is seeing a double rainbow in bright sunshine, and especially am interested in seeing a picture of such.

There is little doubt but that the energy from this second sun is the cause of some of our world-wide environmental disasters.

No reflection on Jimi Hendrix, who was a great artist. He may be a major reason Seattle had a great music scene, 'back in those days.'

Double rainbows are quite common here in Sydney. I saw a beauty too in Tasmania recently, really vivid, small and tight.

Have you ever seen one from a plane high up? They're round!

Never seen a Moonbow though. That would be a sight!

my parents both died within a short time of each other ,but only after many years of serious illness. It was a difficult time for the whole family. Then , a few days after my mums funeral i was at my sisters for dinner.she over looks a huge beautiful bay in nz. As i said my good byes i turned and saw a silvery moon bow. i had never even heard of them before so i was completely blown out.
I have since then ,veiwed it as a sign from my parents and therefore a rather spiritual event , even though i understand the physics involved.
sorry to gush.

BP will hire contractors "to look at the feasibility of finding these anchors," said Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Lionel Bryant, who met with the company last week.

And, they should bother to waste funds on contractors to figure out if it is feasible to remove their junk anchors???

Just trash the joint seems to be the prevailing attitude of BP in my opinion. So How many accidents from subs who venture into this hazardous area?
