Several years ago, some folk out in the middle of Australia went to an Artesian bore, and noticed that some leaves had just come up out of the bore.
These leaves were retreived (the water was hot), and taken to the CSIRO (Oz. government science research folk) for testing.
These leaves aparently came from a tree that only grows in a VERY remote valley in New Guinea, and this tree had only been found a year or so earlier, only a few exist. And the leaves were about 500 years old.
It appears that the leaves fell off the tree, got washed into an underground stream of water and, 500 years later, surfaced in the middle of Australia.
We need to be VERY careful of our precious Earth!
