Just to clarify, the "substance" is the secretion/feces left by the organism. [you know who you are!]  The ceramic part makes sense if there are electrical properties to the "substance" so that the electricity can't jump-start an entity. Terracotta/ceramic made from fossilised Jellies? Maybe same substance Monatom talks about
