but, could the site, and that author be somehow linked to the beginning of our story

look how many new sites rose out of this threads original data, and how much traffic they get.

my question is are we being somehow played? for what end?
distractions of other directions? or just to get the traffic so they can make money off of us while we provide the entertainment?
