there is something concerning me, because of things you guys have said here about synthia and corexit
it is the combination of the corexit that was sprayed here at tauranga after the Rena oil spill,
the fact that White island volcano is becoming active again right now,
and this
:kermadec volcano:
because several of these are fairly active..
i would love your opinions about how serious this problem on my doorstep is..

The specific type used, and the levels of iron added all add to the mix.
Learning from GoM, the things to really watch for are the smaller crustaceans, and younger crustaceans, looking for small oil pockets.
Given where Rena was, in relative open sea, I am hoping that the fact it is less concentrated in an enclosed area will differ to what went down in GoM.
But I'm no expert, and still have my fingers crossed for all our Kiwi mates.
I still have the lingering feeling that Rena was more about delivery (covertly) of something in those containers. Further delivered by sub to other places. Maybe Macquarrie Island.
