'You can be so uncivilized'!

That's the remark I originally wanted to post, but just in time, or more precisely, in the nick of time, I realized you are an Aussie...

That explains!

And coming to think of it, for an Aussie you're actually quite civilized!

Clive James once politely described the country as "Vigorous"

The country is full of ex-convicts, convicts, Kiwis and deadly animals. But as they regularly thrash New Zealand in all sports except Rugby Union and International sports is representative of Warfare, I have to bow his Australian superiority.

And you forgot to mention cricket.

btw, learning how to catch instead of how to drop a cricket ball would improve New Zealand's chances to win an occasional match tremendously...

I always thought drinking after the match and not before might make a difference as well the the NZ team.

Big drama's over coaches and captaincy in the background. Too much the Old boy's network in cricket at times, the best captain we had was Stephen Flemming and he was dumped because Vetorii was from a cricketing family and he was supposed to be Captain one day. Flemming knew how to get the most out of an inadequate team, he used strategy and a little innovation in fielding positions.

Good captains read the Game, when Flemming was made captain he was shit, he would react 7 overs after the time he should have or when the game changed. As he got more games under the belt he got on the button. When they dumped him he used to be two overs ahead of the game. Just dumped because it was someone else's turn. That is no way to run a team.

Australia on the other hand take their sports very seriously and have been training their sports people in a professional manner for decades, while it was a hobby or fun for some countries it is serious business for Aussie sports people.

Shane Warne stuffed their pitches. They made their pitches take more turn for him and it didn't favor the pace bowlers as much. They still haven't returned them to the glory days of great Aussie Wickets yet.

England to give NZ another hammering in an ODI tomorrow, Liquor sales should be good.
