So, here we have a scientifically confirmed new oil-eating species of bacterium in the Gulf of Mexico that’s closely related to a bacterium only found in Rod Bay and the Ross Sea, Antarctica (OA), and another one only found in the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand (OH).

This snip above made some new ringings in my head !!!
I have seen and read it before, but now it possibly links with the Rena and the beaching canisters...

Lets have a closer look to some things ;)

- Rena accident was Oct 5 2011 (the break in 2 was in Jan 2012)

- Canisters had 4 months to travel by currents and gyres ...


* CURRENTS
- The East Australian Current
The East Australian Current flows south along the east coast of Australia from near Queensland’s Fraser Island to Tasmania. It is an important feature of the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand, which has been warming faster than other parts of the ocean.

This is caused by activity in the upper part of the atmosphere over Antarctica, where each spring the onset of daylight brings a set of chemical reactions that deplete ozone in the stratosphere.

This changes the circulation of the atmosphere which in turn alters the wind patterns that drive the ocean currents in the Pacific Ocean, known as the South Pacific Gyre. This strengthening of the South Pacific Gyre also causes a strengthening of the East Australian Current, so that the warm tropical waters from the Coral Sea region are forced further south, warming the Tasman Sea.

Could canisters have travelled by a current from NZ Bay of Plenty to the East coast of AUS ???

And what could have been a reason to dump these toxins?

"East of Tasmania we found bodies of water entrained in the ocean eddies that were originally formed six months previously in Bass Strait," CSIRO scientist Ken Ridgway says. "Further measurements show that at least some of this Bass Strait water makes the journey past southern Tasmania and possibly thousands of kilometres into the Indian Ocean."
Deployed in 2010 and 2011, the gliders were programmed to observe the East Australian Current and ocean eddies up to 200km wide that form off NSW. The scientists say the discovery will help the study of food chains and climate change in Australia's oceans.

The following information is possibly tied with that,
and the Tasman Sea being a hot "hotspot" might tie in to the Bezerk factor of it,
just remember that the Polar-omonas is related to a bacterium ONLY FOUND in the TASMAN SEA !

What's most surprising about the results, he says, is that changes in the hotspots have been highly synchronized, which points to a global cause.
All these major western boundary currents are in fact behaving in the same way,...

Warming in the Tasman Sea has been particularly rapid," Matthew says. "And with ecosystems sensitive to temperature change, this has implications for marine life in Australian waters.
The next step in the research, Wenju says, is to deploy a series of moored ocean sensors across the Eastern Australian Current, to monitor changes more accurately. "Because if you want to detect changes associated with global warming," he says, "observing these hotspots will be very effective."


Could AUgie be in this "hot-hotspot" equation ????

IF AUgie could be linked to warming of waters and thus changing of currents,
then it would be no surprise that ODESSA wanted to implement DEEP_FREEZE ...
it is believed that [extreme] COLD could put AUgie in a stasis [becoming inactive].

Canisters and sensors to monitor AUgie ?
Or to fight it ?

Further research revealed that both Australia and Tasmania and New Zealand were once attached to the plate of Antarctica.

The research was designed to investigate unusual geophysical features in the Faust and Capel sedimentary basins and to collect swath bathymetry data along the lower continental slope of eastern Australia from the Queensland/NSW border to Sydney. Seven giant (Calypso) piston cores (up to 36 m in length), five dredge hauls and four heat flow stations were taken in Australia’s maritime jurisdiction.

Issues being addressed by this work include the nature of diapirs (relatively mobile masses that intrude into pre-existing rocks eg. salt domes) and a seismic reflector called a bottom simulating reflector, which might represent gas hydrate (frozen methane gas).

A high thermal gradient in some places indicates the escape of hot fluids from deep in the underlying sediments. All these phenomena are of scientific interest and bear on the long-term petroleum potential of the region.

I think if I had to ship something unusual and would not want authorities to find out, I would make the transport-vehicle is normal as possible...
