I crossed a line in my personal life that I never wanted to cross and want a tatt to remind me. OP, I'm warning you about "nunquam" -- it exists, but it's not standard. |

I crossed a line in my personal life that I never wanted to cross and want a tatt to remind me. I will spare you the details. Quoting: Deus ExI did something I SWORE I'd never do. Now I have the text of my first ever and most likely tatt. I want something in Latin to the effect: Never Again! Yes, I have googled it but the literal translation is kinda goofy. So I was wondering if any GLP'ers out there knew Latin to the extent that they could help with this? Thanks! "Assus Soreus" should work as a subtle reminder. |

I crossed a line in my personal life that I never wanted to cross and want a tatt to remind me. During the course of a lifetime, anyone worth his salt will have much to regret, much to live down. There is no good to come from a thoughtful individual attempting to more deeply engrave the mistake into his psyche than time and consequences will do by themselves. Let your concience do the commemorating. Life itself leaves enough scars. As for the Latin, I would go with NVNC ITERVM. But I do not like tattoos, and hope the OP does not go through with this. Engrave it on a pendant perhaps, and wear it for a while. With the passage of time -- years, even -- when life has rolled on by and you have matured past the mistake -- then melt down the pendant into some other form. Live over the mistake. Commemorate that triumph. By the way, what is the idea behind people getting tattoos done in languages in which they are not literate? More "mystical"??? Why??? I crossed a line in my personal life that I never wanted to cross and want a tatt to remind me. Isn't that what a lot of people think the morning after they inflict some ghastly tatt.on themselves? Do you really want to go through life having people ask you, "Never Again WHAT?" Do this instead - painless Ian Dury And The Blockheads Bed O' Roses No. 9 lyrics Send "Bed O' Roses No. 9" Ringtone to your Cell I’ve done a lot of things I wished I hadn’t There’s other things I never hope to do But sliding off the map in both directions Is the sorry mess i’ve made of knowing you I’ve seen a lot of things I wished I hadn’t There’s other things I never hope to see But no-one left alive could paint a picture Of the mess that knwoing you has made of me I knew it wouldn’t be a bed of roses I’ve seen the bloody grind that love entails But one door shuts and then another closes And now i’m on a bloody bed of nails Been told a lot of things I wished I hadn’t There’s other things I never hope to know But sliding off the scale of least rememberance Is the way you chose to tell me where to go I’ve been a lot of things I wished I hadn’t There’s other things I never hope to be But no-one left alive could tell the story Of the mess that knowing you has made of me I knew it might turn out to be a schtumer Nothing would surprise me anymore You robbed me of my natural sense of humour And then you nailed my bollocks to the door And you nailed my poor cojones to the door |

Good advice, especially about let your conscience do the commemorating. I also like the one who said it's best not to get any identifying marks "just in case". |

Forget the tattoo...You will be sorry later when life takes a change for the better and you have that constant reminder. Quoting: A. COWARD 461622+1 valuable advice there. your future significant other won't be amused. do the Semper Fi instead, it will remind you just as well and not be so hard to live with later on.
