Its everywhere....Russians in PA fishing lakes barren from keeping undersized fish....I seen all kinds of people doing this shit....even your garden variety white poaching stripe bass by the boat load....
A russian guy was funny tho....he asked me why there was no fishes in the lake as he was putting a undersized largemouth bass into his pail....
Where in PA are you? I'm on the mid-Eastern boarder. I fish Striper/Catfish in the Delaware a lot.
I'm from Jersey, but fish in the Poconos sometimes...have relatives there....I wish there was more fine for the poachers....I don't begrudge anyone taking a legal limit, but its getting out of hand....I do catch and release of freshwater fish and keep a few saltwater varieties....I try educating people when I can.....I see kids catching and stabbing fish to death on the shore for no reason....mostly city kids......you should see the horrified looks on some people faces when I release a large fish, they get mad cuz I won't give it to them....I been fishing since the 70s and seen huge deterioration of the fish stocks in the ocean....weakfish used to be common, but almost non existent now.....stripers made a comeback but who knows how long it will last....I won't say its a race thing, but lack of education regarding conservation...
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 907535Yeah, the Poconos are my stomping ground. Lots f great fishing up here, seems you've been at it a lot longer than I have though. It's sad that it's gone that way. I know what you mean about the ruthlessness of idiots killing fish for no reason. I even get a little perturb even if it's only pickerel or an eel. It's not the point, it's still a living creature. I have a friend who just loves the outdoors, but for whatever reason, also just loves killing things. It's sad. I hope the striper stick around, they're a blast!
