I have sometimes thought that the word meek has been used incorrectly in the bible. Either by design, or because there was not a more suitable word the disciples could find to describe Jesus's meaning.

The meek would have a hard time inheriting the Earth. Unless it means completely peaceful ones. They could win by meditation and thought energy alone, without moving a muscle.

I think it might have meant, the humble will inherit the Earth. That word suggests they would be appreciative and not selfish with it.
