Quad or Dual sport bike and why?
Im looking into either a quad (Polaris sportsman 500) or dual sport bike(Kawi klr650 probably) both are roughly the same price. I would have to tow the quad to camp, and to areas to ride it, but I could plow snow with it in the winter. The bike I could ride to the trails, plus use it to commute 7 months a year and save money on gas.

The other downside of the bike is when I go camping and drink I would be reluctant to drive it, the quad I would still ride.

I wouldnt be riding it like that after drinking. but I could put around on it and a stray rock wouldnt tip me over.
Where I go I can hurt noone but myself. Its purely for self preservation not any concern for dui laws.

I guess it depends on the terrain, where I live it is hilly and rocky and better on two wheels.

I love both.I kinda lean to the Quad. You can tow a small trailer, good Bug out vehicle. You can Shoot alot easier on a quad as compared to a dual sport. So for the survival factor i say QUAD.

Re: Quad or Dual sport bike and why?
yeah the 650 is pretty heavy, and normaly Im a Suzuki guy and like the drz400 better, but the klr has better everything for the street. Ill not be jumping it or anything, fire roads, quad paths....maybe a big puddle is the only obstacle I can imagine.

Europe and Africa have a way bigger market for dual sports as dual sport riding is more popular there..If i ever get the cash , i'd like to get a Africa Twin 750..
