Anonymous Coward User ID: 1014565 United States 07/02/2010 08:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a remodeling contractor in montana. And i've seen this crash that is coming years ago coming. So I've paid everything off and am trying as best I can to store what I think I'll need for the years of depression that is coming. Plus learning to grow my own food and live as simply as I can. The shock will be the lack of work I'll have. If any. I hope I still get some work so I can pay my taxes on my property. I was lucky. MY dad who went through the depression in the 30's kept telling me the banksters were setting us all up yet again for another depression. And he was right about everything he said. |

Jdd User ID: 919551 Canada 07/02/2010 08:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First, make sure the value points of your product/service get pitched in a way that proves cost-savings benefit quickly -- no longer than the 1st three months. Three months out is about the limit of imagination or reality for a customer who's also in trouble, and needs fixes that will save them. So you've got to prove your value proposition right up front, showing a quick cash win for the customer. Second, assume that all your competitors are also struggling. Look for those who are your closet peers (in product, service area and market size), and study them carefully. Do some undercover work if necessary, pretending to be a prospective customer interested in their services. What you'll very likely find is all the ways they've cut corners in order to manage their own bottom line: they've started using cheaper materials, untrained workers, products that deliver less in size/volume/value, etc. Zero in on the cut-corners that serve you best, and increase your co's value in that area, then sell the heck out of it. Tell customers what the other guys are doing, and how you best them. There's another heavy tactic you can employ, depending on your business product/service. If you sell a buy once, walk-away product, forget this one. But if you sell something that delivers to the customer in stages (i.e., they'll buy additional widgets, or upgrade their service, or roll-out a complete product/service buy over a number of installments), then this might be for you. Get a few laid-off friends together, buy them a thermos of coffee and a box of donuts and pay them for the day, and send them out to follow the company vehicles of your best competitors. Log where they're going, who the customers are that have projects in the works. Then follow-up, going to those customers next day, and selling them a better deal so they'll switch over to you. Good luck! Last Edited by Jdd on 07/02/2010 08:05 PM |

Its the banksters, catholics, elites, ect.. involved in this purposeful crash, super depression that is coming. |

The Boss User ID: 898278 United States 07/02/2010 08:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been in business over 9 years in residential arena. I had a bad end to 2008 and a shitty 2009, but started the first 6 months of 2010 as my best year ever. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 768085I have hit a block wall though in the end of June. Reading what's coming is a double dip! I ccan't make it through another 08, 09 shit storm. Any ideas from fellow business owners would be greatly appreciated. Anyone out there experiencing the same? If so what is your game plan to try to get through it? I'm in one of the most diverse economic places in the U.S. Lets try to help one another here! I manage a "middleware" service for corporation. I get my base pay and benefits from it. Although it requires long hours I have the flexibility to work wherever I need to. Along side, I've started a small niche social network for IT professionals. It takes a lot out of me. 12-15 hour days many times including weekends. My point is if you can stretch yourself for a season and find work with benefits and good pay while still running your business you may be able to find some latitude to push past the plateau. Pardon me for interrupting your premature celebration, but I thought it only fair to give you a sporting chance as you are new to this game. |

Its all about doing a service for someone to be able to get something back. So you have to think what people will need when they don't have much to spend. |
