Re: Window Hdroponic Farm !
Neat idea, with several problems . The plastic bottles will eventually be leaching chemicals into the dirt/water/plants.

Also, you will not be growing a wide variety of vegetables that provide decent calories for living. This system would only be good for plants with shallow root systems. Things like lettuce or other leafy vegetables that are not very heavy in weight.

Oh, and you also need a reliable and endless form of electricity to power the water pumps.

This isnt the answer :}

Thank you Debbie Downer! Spoken like a true corporate food supplier! It's a work in progress and the base idea is fantastic.

Its not a downer to make factual comments about things. Even if those factual comments are not positive.

This window gardening is nothing new, its been around for over a decade .

The pump is tiny. It could easily run off of a solar panel and battery intermittently.
I have a small hydroponic garden that turns on only as needed using a moisture sensor and house water pressure.
Tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, sweet peas, chives, and spinach.

If it is a brushed pump and has to push the water several feet high , then it will usually need a few amps to operate it . Solar panels are nice, when the suns out .

as I said, there are problems with this as far as its capabilitys. I dont know of many people who will survive long on lettuce and peas. Furthermore, how much food can the average person grow in a 2ftx3ft window space ?

Its definitely not rocket science, but for the average family, they arent gonna see decent yields of food for their work and the food they get, wont have a high caloric content .

calories = energy
