Any idea what that whirlpool on the Sun is?


It's a sunspot without a tangled and screwed around magnetic field, My guess would be that the strength of the magnetic field of that sunspot is very strong in comparison to the surrond magnetics and can easily force aside the surroundings, without being bunched up and compressed and twisted.
