Nope, I flirted with it when I was a teenager and realized that there is definitely power there, but the chances of it controlling you are much greater than you controlling it.

It is like putting a putting a monkey in the driver's seat of a running car. Chances of a catastrophe greatly outweigh the chances of reaching your destination.

If you do, please keep this in mind.

Crowley wrote in riddle and metaphor.

If he says to use the blood of the moon, it is menstrual blood. If he speaks of slaying a small child, he means to masturbate. Much of Crowley's magick is sexual and not openly written for the non-initiated.

Take nothing as literal. Use common sense - and STUDY before you do anything.

What you put out is what you get back. And if you mess around with dark entities, they will attach themselves to you. It won't be that obvious, but you may notice your luck changing, and the way you feel.

If you really want to dabble in the "other side", do it by meditating and working on your chakras - go for kundalini and the opening of the third eye.

Re: Do you dabble in the Occult Magick rituals??
No I do not 'dabble' I was a practitioner of the craft for a few decades. I am no longer purposefully practicing.

If you actually practiced craft you would gain an understanding that you are not tapping into the energy of another entity (God, Satan, Bael, whatever) you are tapping into the natural energies that flow through everything and are owned by no one being/entity.

Crowley was a queer bird. He knew better.

What did he know better? He knew better than writing his grimories the way he did. He also knew better than to share his take on the knowledge. But greed took hold, so he wrote books that people would buy, not books that contained truth.

I honestly doubt you have actually come across any real magic books. Magic, real magic is passed down from generation to generation, usually on the mother's side. Often in the form of a 'recipe book', rarely if ever openly addressing issues of craft as craft, especially after the burning times.

Family lines practiced the craft. Your great great Grandmother may have been a Midwife, if so she was a 'witch' a practicing, bona-fide crone. Her knowledge and potions were medicine and the practice of medicine.

Prior to the burning times few witches and other practitioners wrote down what they knew, few were literate enough to do so, most were the village 'medicine man'. Craft is chiefly an oral tradition, not one that is meant to be passed around and published.

The Necronomicon is a con, Lovecraft's Necronomicon was a story, a fiction. Others came along who, perceiving that so many gullible human beings were willing to believe that such a book as the Necronomicon existed, wrote collections of quasi-occult gibberish and titled them the Necronomicon.

Nearly all of the spell books that have been published are a con, they were written not to enlighten, but to make money. Once you understand that then you understand that what you have is a collection of dust. Crowley, Day and several other 'New Era Magic Users' are self proclaimed and are at best con-people who took what little information that still remained and bastardized it to sell books and amulets and other trinkets.

Spells and incantation and many of the potions, trinkets, rituals and rites are merely focus. You do these things and use these things to meditate and focus the energies to a purpose. If you are real good at craft, you no longer need these items in order to focus the energies (magic) you can 'think it into being'.

However real craft requires chemistry. Granted it doesn't require a Phd in Chemistry as we know chemistry, however the application of herbs and other things in potions for the treatment of ailments is chemistry. Alchemy.

Prayer is a form of ritual that focuses the energies. It is a weak form since one is told to place the power in the hands of an outside entity. However Jesus attempted to teach us that the power is 'within'. Thus the faith of the mustard seed to move mountains, and the concept of 'where two or more are gathered....'.

I digress.

Real magic comes from what YOU do to focus the energies. You could wear a clown suit and read Lewis Carroll and as long as it has meaning to you and it focuses you, you will manipulate the energies.

You are not 'selling' your soul. However conjuring spirit entities does leave you open for spiritual attack and possession. Conjuration is a skill best left to those who have a strong talent and have wards and guards and know how to weave a strong protection.

A pentagram holds no power, unless you have faith/belief that it does. For that matter a square can hold or not hold power, or a triangle or a mere circle of ash... It depends on you and how you perceive it.

Few magic users actually accomplish anything using the spells of others such as using Crowley's silly little books. Its when you 'see' the symbols in your head and "see" the deeper meanings of those symbols that you cobble together working craft that suits your unique identity.

Unless you are with a coven, then you have to have a mutually agreed upon reality with-in the members of that coven.

Crowley wanted to be the high priest of his own coven, thus he foisted off covenry magics as 'personal' magics. Deluding the masses to buy his book, which did line is pocket with extra money.

Traditional Craft is a collection of Wisdom. Early craft users were the doctors and chemists and the philosophers of a time when there was no formal education. The world 'Witch' comes to us from the words 'Wise One'. Most witches were pagans (yes they worshiped many gods and the Goddess), however the Craft was not the religion, it was the secular application of knowledge for healing, for metallurgy (as in the case of the druids who broke the iron code and bronze code well before the Romans did, Rome stole so much knowledge).

Craft also included astronomy and astrology. in the more traditional sense a 'witch' is an older woman (Crone) who is also a midwife. Midwifery was the only doctor most people saw.

The holistic approach to medicine is the root of medicinal craft. Modern Doctors in the west only address the physical, treating the illness. Midwives and 'wise ones' treated the whole being, treated the body, mind, heart and soul.

Covenry Magic is something totally different than 'craft' it is religion and faith, most of the ritual is to contact the Goddess thus it is a religion. Confusing Craft and "magic" is a "new age" thing that has its basis in 19th Century so called 'revival' of paganism. Unfortunately the pagans had been wiped out, and they never wrote anything down. What little that did remain was passed down behind closed doors orally in secret from The Church.

I dabbled in that shit just once nearly two years ago, and within hours, my sister came thisclose to dying. The doctor literally told us, "Wow, another second and I don't think she'd be as lucky..." after she was stabilized in ICU. Now, you couldn't pay me to even be in the same room with any "paraphernalia". That was too much of a fucking coincidence that I wouldn't even risk it.

Thanks for that informative and long post.
Enlightening, and something along the lines of what I was looking for.

So, you agree that there are rituals that conjure up demonic entities?
So, if the Necronomicon does not contain that information on how to go about it, we understand the rituals that summon forth these entities from the depths of the lower dimensions, must be a closely guarded secret passed on from generation to generation.

This is what I would like to focus on.

NO , I have NEVER dablled in these occult magick ,EVER, but I have come to understand , by reading about it, that sometimes these demonic entities can possess ones soul.

Malevolent entities (which you are calling demons) take advantage and are always seeking a way to cause harm to humans (and other entities within the spirit and physical realms).

Spell casting for the intent to harness the spirit entities will more often than not grab the attention of malevolent entities. Even fake spell casting, say while making a movie will grab the attention of those entities.

Attempts to do such spells by most users will result in a malevolent entity answering the call. That entity, for what ever reason that suits its purpose, will play with the user, it will play this game. It is even possible that an entity will go for years playing this game, returning time after time to allow the user to feel comfortable and 'powerful'. The suddenly one day out of the blue the entity unleashes its fury for what ever reason it has.

Crowley and many others were irresponsible, they turned Craft into something that one should find in Hollywood and fairy tales. True Craft does not seek to summon entities. True craft draws upon the energies of the natural and spiritual worlds, focusing them on specific intent.

I actually suspect that Crowley was being controlled by malevolent entities. He and a few others appear to have done things, wrote books, which actually help the malevolent entities in many ways.
