Anonymous Coward User ID: 564424 United States 07/07/2010 02:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know of a few handgun owners here in the prairies. I prefer my rifles because I don't need to chart out my travel plans with LEO before I leave my home with them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 601353What? Are you serious? Why do the police need to know where you are? Canadians don't have a right to free travel? |

Meaning you can take your rifle/shotgun out hunting and not have to worry about notifying anyone (assuming you have an FAC/Firearm Acquisition Certificate)...but you must call/visit/receive an authorization certificate to carry your handgun to move it from location to location. |

Why do the police need to know where you are? Canadians don't have a right to free travel? We have the right to free travel, just not with a restricted weapon in tow... When you purchase a handgun in Canada you need the correct license just to be able to acquire and own it, and then also a specific permit to transport it, which basically specifies point A and point B: Point A is your residence and point B is the gun club that you need to be a member of in order to be allowed to get the handgun in the first place. Hint: don't get caught driving that pistol up to buddy's cottage for the weekend... So yeah, given the above, there really is no point to owning a handgun in Canada since it's a purely defensive weapon and can't be carried for that purpose (or even stored "unsafely" at home-- they need to be locked up, unloaded). |

Here we are friendly and don't need a handguns like the powertripping americans. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1028241Fuck that, if the criminals can carry handguns, private citizens should be able to as well. I know I'd feel alot safer in some areas of town with one on me. (and I live in the murder capital of Canada!) Problem is there's way too many retards out there who would ruin it for us by doing stupid shit, or brandishing their peice for even the slightest of offences. |

That is for legal ownership, the criminals can go wherever they want with them though. If I could own a handgun without all the bs that goes with it I would add some into my collection of rifles and shotguns. Free travel just not with handguns.......lol |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1028165 Canada 07/07/2010 03:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was watching a few episodes of pawnstars and couldn't believe how many handguns come through that door. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 857506I live in western Canada and have never seen nor know anyone that owns a handgun. Do they even exist in Canada other than by police? lol Moving here to Alberta. Guns are like a toaster. Rifles can be carried without knowledge of anyone(permit a must). Handguns(bad news) need a permit for the permit that you must fill from point a to b of the gun's travel. Crook 1 Honest guy 0 As a born city slicker (Toronto) moving West (Vancouver) picked up a trade then moved to Alberta. Guns are a normal way of life to these locals. I was anti handgun growing up in the big cities. This has changed. People kill people..Not hand guns..I have a RIGHT to defend my life!!PERIOD!! I mean no harm and have a RIGHT to defend whatever harm comes my way!! PERIOD! |
