These lousy money grubbing a-holes do not care, nor are they taking the proper steps in warning us as to the risks associated with working on the Gulf. Quoting: Angel HelperYou are saying that the air is unhealthy for the smokers to breathe? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 913496 United States 07/12/2010 07:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Only problem I have with your message is, what does the casino management being from the UK have to do with it? Quoting: Angel HelperAre you saying that if the management were American they would be telling their clients all about the spill and its effect? If they were American, would they shake their heads, shed tears and shut down their casinos in protest? I think not. Please don't drag down all of the people in the UK into the same viper pit as people who manage casinos... shame on YOU for actually still working there if you give a damn at all. You figure this one out, and don't give me that crap that i am being unfair, it is what it is. Just making heads and tails out of what I am seeing. ... Having seen foreigners come in and they way they treat Americans, trying to bring in their own countrymen or anyone but US middle class achievers who used to fill a lot of good jobs, I am glad you spoke out just the way you did. You're not speaking about people you don't know who are in the UK now. You're describing the people from the UK you do see, the ones who were sent to the former colonies to run an operation there and send cash back home. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1031921 United States 07/12/2010 07:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Angel, Thanks for your first hand reporting. It's people like you that are getting the truth out to the rest of us. Quoting: Angel HelperI recieved a post on FB from a friend just yesterday, that she was swimming in the gulf in Biloxi and the water and sand were clean and there were plenty of fish and pelicans around. She is somone that has no reason to make up things. Wondering about your first hand take on that?Does it look "clear" to an outsider... someone just visiting for a day or two? I swear to you, there are NO usual animal life around where I am, and I am directly on the Gulf. No usual dolphins, no pelicans, no fish, none. No one fishing like they usually do, no boat owners enjoying their boats sitting on them talking and having coctails, none of this anymore, she must be from some area not quite affected YET. Don't worry, the spill is still goin full force, that little piece of heaven will soon end. Regretably. Tell your friend to take plenty of pictures....they will probably be some of the last nice ones she will have from here. And i almost forgot, I would not come here to visit at all. It is getting like a ghost town. There are invisable vapors related to the spill. If you come, wear a gas mask!!! With all the promotional ads, incentives, etc...maybe BP or other invested parties are PAYING people to pitch favorable reports in order to try to promote tourism? I'm not saying this is it, and that your friend would do something like that. I just happen to trust more of what I see than that of what I hear. Especially if people are having a hard time financially...which nearly everyone is right now, who's to say that someone didn't offer a $$ bonus, of say $2500 to get word out that all is "a-ok" and people should "come on down". Heck, it'd be tempting, that's for sure...any amount of money would come in handy these days, especially if you're unemployed or underemployed. Not everyone we THINK we know is who we THINK they are. There are many I would consider to be friends that would probably fall for such a scheme. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 793721 Australia 07/12/2010 07:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The casino is a legalized den of iniquity, and has gutted and consumed the wealth of many. If the gulf coast is full of them, then I understand a little more why there is a gulf oil disaster. It is divine retribution. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1034191 United Kingdom 07/12/2010 07:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THe fact of the matter is, anyone I speak to here is appalled by what is happening, but what can we actually do to help? I suppose millions of American citizens went to Japan after the 2 a-bombs dropped and helped clean up the streets there? If you went to any coastal city not affected by the spill, what is the mood like? I suppose no one is bathing/swimming, or tanning or fishing etc.. the point is, the vast vast majority of Americans are apathetic to what is happening because its not on their doorstep. The bigger problem is that YOU and the people who are on the spot and can make a difference are doing nothing. The truth is, oil has been God in most of the developed world for a loooooong time now, and as we know, God can do what the fu*k he wants and people still worship him.. WHy don't you and your countrymen take up your armaments so rightfully given to you by constitution and use them to make a difference. |

Hitndahedfred User ID: 1024212 United States 07/12/2010 07:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | as always ... protect your identity... Quoting: aVianaVian ================================ Word Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. You don't see them fucking each other over for profit. Quoting: ElementXNamaste- EX I love dolphins as much or more than the next person, but, they have been know to do "stupid" things as well, including killing other dolphins and seals for things like sexual frustration. I truly do not know if sex="profit" in dolphin-land, but who knows.... I don't know of any human OR animal on Earth that is perfect, then again, I don't think any human or animal is on Earth to be already perfect.... In any case I do agree that BP and the Powers That Be are in no way getting closer to perfection, but WAY farther away. |
